Streets: Shepard Fairey x Glen E. Friedman MCA Tribute (Los Angeles)

We have already directed your attention to two murals (here & here) which marked the passing of late Adam Yauch (MCA) of the Beastie Boys, and now we have another tribute to add to the mix. Shepard Fairey recently has put up several pieces around Los Angeles, utilizing a Glen E. Friedman photo, in remembrance of the music legend at a couple locations (Sunset at Las Palmas and another on Fairfax just south of Santa Monica Boulevard).  RIP. Image via the artist & FRESHNGOOD. Video: Kid Acne / The Duke Spirit – “Glorious”

One of our favourite UK exhibitions from 2011 was Kid Acne’s Kill Your Darlings retrospective at Sheffield Museum’s Millennium Gallery, where the artist first presented his Stabby Women film. The film had us hooked, and the B&W imagery captivated audiences in the gallery as his stabby women were brought to life with equal measures of heroism and vengeance. UK band The Duke Spirit liked the film so much that they asked Acne if they could use the footage for their new single Glorious. The resultant […]
