Another weekend, another Streets: World Roundup here on AM. The highlighted mural this time comes from Tahrir Square in Egypt where Sheikh Khan painted one of the barriers that the Egyptian military erected to divide the streets that connect to government power centers. Remember this cover (also released as a print) from Shepard Fairey (featured) that was commissioned for new Penguin Book editions of George Orwell’s dystopian classic 1984 several years back? Word has now leaked that Mr. Obey will take a similar route as his friend and fellow street artist across the pond, Banksy, and get into film. In October 2011, Kid Zoom (aka Ian Strange) returned to his native home Australia for a special project where he built a full scale reproduction of his childhood home at the prestigious Turbine Hall on Cockatoo Island. Following the Aussie suburban theme, Kid Zoom parks three classic Holden Commodores to round out the picturesque setting symbolizing his youth. On a wet Friday evening, Fifty24SF hosted Mexico City-based artist Saner’s latest exhibition entitled Corazon Sangrante (Bleeding Heart). The show is made up of a series of paintings and drawings (some of which have burn and stitching elements) with his signature characters fitted with animalistic masks in situations that reflect what he observes around him in everyday life. Recently, Nick Walker (interviewed) took a little trip across the pond to Chi-town hoping to spread a little Vandal love. Yesterday, we gave you an inside look at the collaborative project between Liu Bolin and JR (featured). During the first part of the day, the French artist wheat-pasted up a beautiful photo mural of the Liu. Now, we get to see Chinese artist return the favor and camouflage JR into his own art with his signature touch.
