Pow Wow ’12 – Setup

This year’s Pow Wow event aims to expand from its initial urban roots. Last year, the crew laid paint solely on buildings near the gallery property, but this time the surrounding industrial district of Kaka’ako was also the target of this artistic beautification campaign. After the kickoff ceremonies, it was time to get serious and the crew got straight to work. Artists such as Will Barras, Mr. Jago, Prime, Flying Fortress, 123Klan, Meggs, Angry Woebots, Aaron De La Cruz and many more took tours of the neighborhood to […]

Preview / Installation: ROA – “Defragmentation” & “Fragments” @ The Scarlett Gallery

The last time we touched on the work of the prolific Belgium-based ROA was when we came across some of his murals during Art Basel Week Miami (here & here). And, the last time we witnessed an indoor showing from the anatomically-inclined artist was in Australia (covered) back in October. Well, we’re happy to report that he has two concurrent exhibitions planned very soon in Stockholm, one on the 17th at a yet-to-be-announced secret location entitled Defragmentation and another entitled Fragments on the 18th at the […]

After recently completing an impressive murals in the heart of Downtown LA (covered), the prolific brothers known as How & Nosm returned to Los Angeles for another go around. This time however, they decided to paint the exterior of the LA Weekly building. Although this project is not quite the same size as last time, this mural is perhaps more detailed and more layered. Streets: RIME (Los Angeles)

Keeping up with yet another mural going up across the streets of Los Angeles, we caught up with MSK/AWR graffiti writer RIME as he was putting up his signature character design in the arts complex overseen by Warren Brand. This Branded Arts project is yet another addition to the growing list of artists such as Herakut (covered), Dabs Myla (covered) and most recently Anthony Lister (covered) who all have left their imprint at the Culver City complex. Sticking with his very unique style, RIME painted a number […]
