Teaser / Video: D*Face & Mear One – “Temporary Metropolis” @ L.A. Mart

It sounds like D*Face (interviewed) and Mear One are planning a huge show in Los Angeles for May of next year. They will be taking over the 25,000 sq. ft. 2nd floor of L.A. Mart in downtown with their paintings and installations entitled Temporary Metropolis. From January 12th-16th, Elms Lester will be showing Adam Neate’s (interviewed) work at the first ever Art Stage Singapore. If they are lucky, fans in the city-state will be seeing some of the work from his Flock Series at the art fair that we saw in October at the London gallery (covered). Our friend Roger Gastman has been a busy boy. First he was the consulting producer for Exit Through the Gift Shop, then he curated the Sanrio anniversary art show, and later in 2011, he’ll be helping the MOCA to curate their Art in the Streets exhibition. Never Judge, a group show where a diverse group of artists were invited to reinterpret their favorite book covers, opened recently at the StolenSpace Gallery in London. Classics like 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, 1984, War of the Worlds, and Beauty and the Beast had their covers redone by artists like Art Under Pressure, Shepard Fairey, Eelus, and Will Barras. AM recently attended The Hole Gallery’s latest show Postermat. The group exhibition was a little different than the typical group show because they went all retro with it. Agata Oleksiak or simply known has Olek has come into prominence recently for her crocheted interventions on the streets. Although more commonly known for her bikes, the “Crochet Guerrilla” recently created a “sweater” for the famed Charging Bull or “Wallstreet Bull” in New York. Interestingly enough, the sculptor, Arturo Di Modica, originally installed the bull (costing the artist $360,000 of his own money) without permission in front of the New York Stock Exchange in December 1989 so this new work is somewhat of a homage […]

Osgemeos – “Slava’s Head” for The Moulin / Dépayz’arts

It looks like Osgemeos has hooked up with The Moulin again for another project, this time to fashion Slava’s head out of a trailer. The character is taken of the famous Russian clown show – Slava’s SnowShow, which is also the subject of an animation that the Brazilian duo are working on (shown here previously).
