The Lady Aiko, who was recently in Los Angeles for the opening of her joint show “Vivid Fiction” (covered), lived for a week at The Standard in Hollywood. While staying at the hotel, she created an installation there with her signature stencils and imagery. Luckily for us, someone was around to get some footage. One of the few street artists out there who have earned their stripes, Poster Boy, meeting at least one of Saber’s criteria for street cred, has been released from prison and in return, will be releasing his first monograph – “The War of Art”. So, observant street art fans in New York must have noticed by now that Shepard Fairey’s much vandalized “These Parties Disgust Me” mural (done in conjunction with his “May Day” show at Deitch) has been covered with the scaffolding below rebuilt. Openings: Bäst – “Botulism” @ Lazarides Gallery

Lazarides’ latest exhibition at their Rathbone Place space opened on the 20th of August and showcased a solo exhibition by legendary Brooklyn artist Bäst. On show are a series of large scale works on canvas, paper and wood, along with several sculptural pieces, which sees the artist revisit and expand upon themes and styles he has been experimenting with for many years. Nick Walker (interviewed) will return to his home country of the UK to unveil a new exhibition “In Gods We Trust”. His latest solo since his sold-out exhibition at Black Rat Press (covered) will deal with the theme that explores the turbulent religious and political landscapes that surround us today. Streets: Banksy in Hastings?

A “Tesco Sand Castle” piece recently showed up that has strong possibilities as the newest Banksy piece in Hastings, a town on the coast of East Sussex in England. First off, the child shows some similarities to the postcard included with the limited edition “Exit Through The Gift Shop” DVD set. Second of all, some notables were in the area recently to celebrate Eine’s 40th birthday, so the timing seems to fit. Via the The Banksy Forum. Discuss Banksy here.

Teaser: KAWS – “Passing Through” @ Harbour City (Hong Kong)

It looks like Kaws has some “big” things planned for Asia this October. Take a look at this huge sculpture he’s working on for the “Passing Through” exhibition at Harbour City, one of the biggest shopping venues in Hong Kong. The hand positioning is reminiscent of the collaboration he did with Yue Minjun back in 2008. Discuss KAWS here.
