Openings: Kaws @ Galeria Javíer López

It looks like KAWS traveled to Spain for the opening of his latest show (previewed) at Galería Javier López in Madrid. Three fresh canvases were on display along with a cool purple bronze. For this new body of work, Brian continues to explore his monotone technique in large paintings of SpongeBob varations and also a surprise return to his iconic Chum in one piece. Video: Faile Bast Deluxx Fluxx Arcade

Our friends over at Babelgum have put together a nice video about the “Faile Bast Deluxx Fluxx Arcade” show that we covered last week at Lazarides. Bast and the Patricks were both interviewed about the creative process behind the show among other things.  Also, there’s some nice footage of the immersive installation and artwork that transformed the gallery into a neon video arcade. Preview: Hush & Opus Gallery @ Scope NYC

Armory Week is just around the corner and we have a little peek of what’s coming for the Scope Art Fair in NYC. Hush (interviewed) will be premiering a new Geisha painting with Opus Art and it looks rad. Usually we see him utilizing a manga-esque girl, but this time Hush switches it up with a more realistic approach to his signature style. More after the jump.

Preview: Kaws @ Galeria Javíer López

Recently, we teased you about KAWS’ latest show with Galería Javier López in Madrid. We now see that there are some pics giving us an inside look at the gallery space. Looks like KAWS continuing to work with the monotone technique that we saw at his previous shows with Gering Lopez and OHWOW. It opens tomorrow at 7:30pm so drop by if you can! Openings: “Never a Dull Moment” @ White Walls

Opening alongside Antistrot last weekend in San Francisco (covered) was the phenomenal group show, “Never a Dull Moment” at White Walls. Featuring a stellar lineup including Augustine Kofie, The Clayton Brothers (featured), Remi/Rough, and many more, this latest showing is another expertly curated exhibition by the dandy darling, iO Tillet Wright. It appears that world traveler and street artist ABOVE (interviewed) recently made it over to Cuba to put up a stencil and installation regarding the current situation in Haiti, which is only 90 miles away from Cuba.
