Teaser: Escif – “Around The Wall” @ Pictures On Walls

Spanish street artist Escif will be visiting the UK for a solo show at Pictures On Walls (POW) opening April 17th. As we suspected, Banksy wasn’t done with Los Angeles after the first stencil (security guard with Koons dog) he put up yesterday. Seen above is a newly discovered piece in downtown LA that is raising expectations for the special premiere of his documentary tonight in a secret location. As his upcoming show at NYC’s Joshua Liner gallery quickly approaches in just a couple weeks, Shawn Barber (featured) recently sat down with AM for a quick discussion on the art of getting, giving and painting tattoos. Known primarily for his sittings with tattoo legends and artists, Shawn’s latest exposition, “Tattooed Portraits: Chronicle” looks to be no less than the stellar work we’ve come to expect, as evidenced by the teaser images he’s sent our way. As hoped for by Banksy fanantics who are stateside, the elusive street artist has officially landed. With the his documentary, “Exit Through The Gift Shop” premiering in New York (covered), and set to premiere in LA and SF, it was only a matter of time before Mr. B gifted his followers here with some street work (on La Brea & 4th). Parisian artist LUDO (interviewed) took time recently to put up some new works in the streets even while working on his first solo show next month in Paris. We are definitely looking forward to seeing how his works translate in the gallery setting, but from the look of things, he’s continuing to explore his “Nature’s Revenge” series.
