Streets: Anthony Lister Murals (Los Angeles) Part I

Anthony Lister (interviewed) made unbelievably good use of his time when he was in Los Angeles recently for a show at HVW8 getting up all around town. With no less than eight different murals accounted for, we’ll be splitting them up into two articles to make them easier for fans to digest. Starting things off will be the piece he did in Downtown LA (Setup by L.A. Free Walls & Brooklyn Street Art) seen above and then we will move on to the HVW8 gallery […]

Streets: Evol (Germany)

Known for his ability to modify urban structures to resemble hyper-realistic miniature buildings, Berlin-based artist EVOL recently took his unique artform up a notch. As one of the participants of the art component of the MS Dockville Music Festival, what he had to work with was in his words “the endless meadow, trees and blue sky, not exactly what I play with usually.”  What he decided to do next was pretty amazing. He “decided to cut open the idyll, and pretend there is no endless meadow, but […]

Streets: Shepard Fairey (Copenhagen) Part III

Here are some more photos of our four part series as Shepard Fairey (featured) continued to assault the streets prior to his show that opened last night in Denmark at the V1 Gallery (more on this soon).  You can refer to part 1 and part 2 of our coverage where you can see the OBEY crew busy the entire week stenciling and wheatpasting on the streets of Copenhagen. More photos taken for us by Henrik Haven after the jump…

Streets: London Instagram Roundup

Since the last AM London Instagram Roundup, quite a bit has being going on. First up, it was great to see Mobstr’s newly painted shutters with the words “Huh?” repeated in black and white to make up one giant “Huh?” Also, the side door to Stolen Space Gallery had a wonderful make over by Word to Mother, very nice. Sweet Toof is still being very active hitting up another roller piece with artist Smells, and also some other new work around from him too. There […]

Streets / Teaser: ROA @ INOPERAbLE (Vienna)

Unstoppable Belgium street artist ROA will be hitting up Vienna next with a show on August 26th at INOPERAbLE. He was only recently in Berlin for a solo show in July where he painted up the indoor and outdoor spaces in the city.  No doubt he will be doing the same for Austria with this mural being the first image to be released. Discuss ROA here.

Streets: Shepard Fairey (Copenhagen) Part II

AM contributing photographer Henrik Haven continues his documentation of the Shepard Fairey (featured) street work in Copenhagen with pics of this second wall. The leader of the Obey campaign is in Denmark for his show this weekend at V1 Gallery but has been getting up around town these last several days. This version of “Guns & Roses” took two days and is located at Nygårdsvej, 2100 Østerbro. More pics after the jump…

FAME Festival ’11: Vhils

Plaster, concrete, paper, wood – where other people see construction materials and tools, the visionary Vhils sees art. After working on a wall outside of the Post No Bills gallery in the States in conjunction with the European Bailout Show (covered), the Lisbon-based street artist traveled to Italy to do his part for the annual Fame Fest. Take a look at some of the other pieces he produced while in town as well as a video of some of the shenanigans that went down.

Streets: Shepard Fairey (Copenhagen) Part I

As we draw closer to the Friday night opening of  Shepard Fairey’s (featured) show Your Ad Here at V1 Gallery, we will bringing you some front line pics as he and the Obey crew beautify walls in and around Copenhagen.  This particular peace dove mural was their first effort and located on Jagtvej 69, 2200 Nørrebro for those in town. A full photoset of action shots taken for us our correspondent Henrik Haven after the jump…

Streets: Ericailcane (Rome)

Not to be outdone by fellow compatriot and frequent collaborator Blu, street illustrator Ericailcane also headed out on his own to work on some solo murals. This new wall in Rome was painted in the Laurentino 38 neighborhood, a downtrodden area that has seen some restoration projects in recent months commissioned by LabUrba. Hopefully, we’ll continue to see more from “Eric the Dog” throughout the rest of summer. Additional detail pics (by Jessica Stewart) after the jump, but also check out some in progress pics over at Drago.

Streets: West Hollywood Library Wrapup (Shepard Fairey, Kenny Scharf, RETNA)

Although the new public library in West Hollywood isn’t set to open until the fall, the three large murals by Shepard Fairey, Kenny Scharf, and RETNA are now complete. Billed as an extension to MOCA’s Art in the Streets exhibition, the project (which we have been following) was apparently conceived by Jeffrey Deitch himself and will also include some additional indoor work from Fairey. The work however may not be permanent as the city has only committed to hosting the murals through July 2012. More […]
