A few weeks ago AM got a chance to visit with artist Tessar Lo at his Toronto studio. He was just coming off of recent group shows More Than Two (Let It Make Itself) at The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery in Toronto and Buddy System at the Breeze Block Gallery in Portland. On November 23rd, Seattle-based artist Mike Leavitt (interviewed) will be opening his solo show, Empire Peaks, at Jonathan LeVine Gallery where he will be debuting a brand new series of statuary. We recently visited Mary Iverson’s studio as she finished up works for her Sunk exhibition, opening on November 7th at the Davidson Galleries in Seattle. After receiving an art grant, Mary traveled to Yosemite National Park in order to gain some source material for her wonderful landscape paintings. AM recently stopped by the Wolfbat Studios of Dennis McNett. The Brooklyn-based artist is getting ready for his solo exhibition entitled Temple of Wolfbat at Known Gallery in Los Angeles that is set to open on November 16th. While there, we got a sneak peek of what’s to come for this big Los Angeles exhibition. Next week, Masakatsu Sashie makes his New York debut with an exhibition at Jonathan LeVine Gallery. For now, we’ll bring you an inside look Sashie’s studio as he prepares for this show. From the looks of things it appears he will bring back his urban spheres and display the interesting perspectives on a society filled with modernism and consumerism. Studio Visit: Jorge Rodriguez-Gerada

Earlier this year, we had the chance to visit Cuban-American artist Jorge Rodriguez-Gerada in his studio in Barcelona. Known for his large scale charcoal photorealistic portraits on buildings since the 90s, Jorge will be presenting a new solo show in Paris at Mathgoth Gallery on October 11th called TEXTURE URBAINE. Studio Visits: Tomokazu Matsuyama – “The Standard Rendez-vous” @ Zidoun & Bossuyt

AM recently stopped by the new studio space of Tomokazu “Matsu” Matsuyama (interviewed). The Brooklyn-based artist was busy getting ready for his solo exhibition at Luxembourg’s Zidoun & Bossuyt that opened yesterday. It was great to see Matsu focusing more on larger paintings and also the return of his abstract “sundance” style that we’ve come to love. The exhibition runs from October 3rd until November 9th, so stop by if you’re in the area. Discuss Matsu here.

This author had the pleasure of interviewing Sail in 2012 for his personal blog, but a lot has changed for the Seattle based artist since then.
