Imperfect Reality with Figures and Challenging Abstraction is the title of an installation by Chris Johanson that will open on September 17th at The Conversation. Showing: “The New Vanguard” @ Lancaster Museum of Art and History

Showing: FriendsWithYou – “Light Wave” @ Santa Monica Pier

Currently showing at the Santa Monica Pier through September 8th (7-10pm on Thursdays) is a new installation from FriendsWithYou. Light Wave is the collective’s largest installation to date and was created in partnership with the iconic pier’s Twilight Concert Series as well as Snapchat. Openings: Pejac – “Law of the Weakest” (London Popup)

On Thursday, July 21st, Pejac revealed his long awaited London solo show for a private viewing. Installed as a popup at the Londonewcastle Project Space on Redchurch Street, Law of the Weakest included around 30 pieces created in the last couple of months exclusively for this event. In his continuing effort to raise awareness about the refugee crisis, Ai Weiwei recently installed a new piece at Vienna’s Belvedere Palace as a part of his first solo exhibition in Austria, translocation – transformation. Titled F Lotus the piece consists of 201 rings with 5 life jackets on each, floating like lotus flowers and forming a big letter F. As previously reported, on the 7th of July, after two months of participating in 999 Foundation’s Artist Resistance Residency in Rome, Seth aka Julien Malland opened his solo show entitled Range Ta Chambre (Clean Up Your Room). Dutch Flower Painting Recreated With Real Flowers (London)

Along with an exhibition celebrating Dutch flower paintings of the early 17th and late 18th century, the National Gallery in London has also organized an installation made out of flowers on their front facade. Created out of 25,000 blooms by the Flower Council of Holland, the piece is a recreation of A Still Life of Flowers in a Wan-Li Vase by Dutch artist Ambrosius Bosschaert the Elder.
