Streets: Slinkachu (Belgium)

Over the weekend in Belgium, street miniaturist Slinkachu presented a small show featuring his work in a temporary gallery at Lange Lozanastraat 101b in the 2018 area of the city. While there, he also placed his tiny street installations throughout Antwerpen for residents to discover including a piece featuring a footballer chalking his own field. Openings: Ryan McGinley – “Animals” @ Team Gallery NY

Last week, photographer Ryan McGinley opened shows simultaneously at Team Gallery’s two New York locations entitled Animals & Grids. We will focus first on the showing on Grand Street where McGinley continued his portraiture featuring nude models interacting with live animals. The artist visited various sanctuaries, zoos, and rescue establishments across the United States, erecting a mobile studio where he collaborated with animal trainers to pose subjects (animal and humans) in bizarrely seductive and symbiotic compositions. Ryan McGinley – “Animals” & “Grids” @ Team Gallery NY

Opening simultaneously on Wednesday (May 2nd) at both of Team Gallery’s two New York locations will be Ryan McGinley’s Animals & Grids. The space on Grand Street will host the NY-based photographer’s growing body of work, Animals, which features his studio portraits of nude models with live animals, leading to a sometimes unpredictable result in an otherwise controlled setting. For Team’s other space on Wooster, Grids consists of three huge grids of individual portraits of fans at concerts building upon McGinley’s repertoire of concert photography.

Previews: Prune Nourry – “Holy River @ The Invisible Dog

Very soon, Prune Nourry will be exhibiting at The Invisible Dog Art Center in Brooklyn. She will be sharing the culmination of a three year project on gender selection focused on India. Entitled Holy River, Ms. Nourry will utilize her dynamic skill set to bring mediums such as sculptures, photography, performance and video to drive her points home. The opening reception is Saturday May 12th from 6pm to 10pm, so try and stop by in you’re in town. Check out a preview after the jump.
