Showing: Michael Page – “Into Passing” @ Shooting Gallery SF

Michael Page (interviewed) continued to take his work in the direction we last saw at his show in March of last year (covered) with the inclusion of more abstract and loose elements as well as bold palette choices. The new body of work showing at the Shooting Gallery in SF explores the “immediacy of the human experience through the examination of macabre themes such as death and the eternal passage of time.” More pics after the jump via the gallery…

Showing: Damien Hirst – “Forgotten Promises” @ Gagosian (Hong Kong)

After bringing you a glimpse (when Murakami visited) of the inaugural show at the Gagosian in Hong Kong, the gallery has sent us a more detailed look at the installation of the show and views of the spacious interior. Forgotten Promises includes some favorites and some newer works from Damien Hirst such as stunning photorealistic oil paintings of butterflies, diamond cabinets, the much talked about diamond encrusted baby skull, and much more. Openings: Armsrock – “Nocturne On A Drainpipe Flute” (Copenhagen)

Armsrock (interviewed) recently opened up a show in Copenhagen at the Wonderland Art Space entitled Nocturne On A Drainpipe Flute. No stranger to the art of projection as the Danish artist has participated in multiple light projects, this show features 210 drawings on 7 different looping projectors including many of the “images of unrest” that we love.

Building on his solo a few months back, Compound Eyes of the World (covered), Andrew Schoultz debuted a new body of work last week at the Arkitip and Incase showspace in Los Angeles. Last year, Wynwood Walls started out as an ambitious project to revive and reclaim the worndown Wynwood Arts District with art.
