Openings: Fafi Pop Up @ Galerie L.J.

It looks like Parisians only have a few more days to visit Galerie L.J. if they want to catch the popup show from French street legend Fafi. The collection of new limited editions and other art products will close its doors to the public come June 22nd. Openings: Tim Hon Hung Lee – “You were born with a light between your eyes, I was born to answer your sun” @ Gallery Nine 5

Last month, AM stopped by the solo from Tim Hon Hung Lee at Gallery Nine 5 in New York to check out his new body of work entitled You were born with a light between your eyes, I was born to answer your sun. Utilizing Chinese ink on rice paper, the London-based artist paints complex and rich pieces that draw from the stories of his family and ancestors while also mixing in elements of his Western upbringing. Openings: “Let’s Go Bombing Tonight” @ V1 Gallery

After telling you about an upcoming show curated by KAWS and Erik Parker, we now bring your pics of another artist curated show in Copenhagen. Let’s Go Bombing Tonight at the V1 Gallery was put together under the vision of Barry McGee and Josh Lazcano (AMAZE) and features a lineup of their friends and associates. Openings: Geoff McFetridge – “US AS A LOGO” @ V1 Gallery

Last week in Copenhagen, LA-based Geoff McFetridge opened his show US AS A LOGO at the V1 Gallery. The multidisciplinary artist, who seems to have no creative boundaries, has worked with poetry, animation, graphic design, creating title sequences for movies like Virgin Suicides, Adaptation and Where The Wild Things Are as well as the skateboard ramps seen in the Art in the Streets exhibition. Openings: Marco Zamora – “New Work” @ POVevolving Gallery

Over this past weekend, the POVevolving Gallery hosted Marco Zamora’s new artwork which continues to explore the artist’s fascination with the urban landscape. Featuring large scale paintings and a structure completely formed with cinder blocks, Zamora manages to explore what it means to live within the constructs of a city. Openings: Ryan McGinness – “SponsorshipREDUX” @ Subliminal Projects

Last Saturday, Ryan McGinness hit up the final leg of his exhibition schedule in LA with a show at Subliminal Projects. SponsorshipREDUX is a remix of his 2003 show, where corporate logos were sized on the gallery walls according to their level of sponsorship for the exhibition.  This time around, the logos (including ours), were deconstructed and the parts used as compositional ingredients in a series of four paintings and two print editions. Live Painting: Anthony Lister @ ProjectRoom (Berlin)

Aussie street artist Anthony Lister (interviewed) recently hit up Berlin’s ProjectRoom (Jaybo’s showspace).  You may remember other events held there like the collaboration between Remi/Rough – Jaybo – Juice 126 or the Herakut live painting. Openings: Jeff Canham, New Bohemia Signs, and ESPO @ Guerrero Gallery

On Saturday night, the Guerrero Gallery in SF opened up their doors to a show celebrating the signmaking aesthetic. Included in the show were artists influenced by the their love for typography and signage – Steve “ESPO” Powers and Jeff Canham, as well as the crew of New Bohemia Signs. Openings: Aaron Nagel – “A Thin Line” @ Shooting Gallery

Saturday night in San Francisco, the Shooting Gallery hosted a new collection of paintings from Aaron Nagel. It has been over a year since Nagel’s photorealistic renderings have graced the walls of the Tenderloin district showspace, and he returns with A Thin Line, a classical study on the beauty of the female form with a contemporary twist.
