Openings: Robert Williams – “Conceptual Realism in the Service of the Hypothetical” @ CSUN Gallery

Saturday night was the opening of Robert Williams’ traveling solo show at the Cal State University Northridge Gallery. We originally covered the exhibition in New York, but the second time around was no less stunning. Preview: The Armory Show 2010

Oh, how time flies! It seems not that long ago, we were running around New York during Armory Week. But it’s actually been almost a year, and the 2010 ARMORY Art Show is now just around the corner. If you can’t wait for March 4th to roll around for the show, we have a little sneak peek of some pieces that will be exhibited at the fair. Check it out after the jump.

Openings: Tessar Lo & Nimit Malavia @ Show & Tell Gallery

Tessar Lo and Nimit Malavia recently opened their shows: “Everything we wanted in our nostalgic future”  and “I can’t love you but we can romance” (respectively) at Toronto’s Show and Tell Gallery. For both artists, this was their first solo show in Canada. Not surprisingly, Toronto art fans filled the house to see the works from the two talented artists. Openings: Andreas von Chrzanowski (aka: Case) @ Signal Gallery

Andreas von Chrzanowski (aka Case) opened his first UK solo with the Signal Gallery  (in conjunction with Campbarbossa) this past Thursday night with the finished works were nothing short of sharp and interesting. Utilizing his talents with the spray can, Andreas worked his crisp techniques onto numerous found mediums from books to wood to canvas. Openings: Rob Sato – “Junk History” @ Giant Robot (SF)

Last Saturday evening marked the opening of Rob Sato’s solo show, “Junk History”, in San Francisco at Giant Robot. This was his second solo show, following his first one at Giant Robot’s Los Angeles location last year. Featured in the show were largest pieces he had ever worked on, which still required close inspection to observe every minor detail packed into the painting. On the opposite side of the spectrum were tiny works painted on slide film that were still in his signature watercolor style. […]

Showing: Miss Van – “She-Wolves” @ Merry Karnowsky

One the most well-known and celebrated female street artists, Miss Van, recently opened her show “She-Wolves” (previewed) at Merry Karnowsky Gallery in Los Angeles.  This new body of work featured the French artist’s signature “poupes” dressed up in animal attire although she seems to have taken it a step further with some of the characters possessing some very real mammary glands, demonstrated vividly in the amazing painting seen above (to the right). Openings: Kaws @ Galeria Javíer López

It looks like KAWS traveled to Spain for the opening of his latest show (previewed) at Galería Javier López in Madrid. Three fresh canvases were on display along with a cool purple bronze. For this new body of work, Brian continues to explore his monotone technique in large paintings of SpongeBob varations and also a surprise return to his iconic Chum in one piece. Openings: “Never a Dull Moment” @ White Walls

Opening alongside Antistrot last weekend in San Francisco (covered) was the phenomenal group show, “Never a Dull Moment” at White Walls. Featuring a stellar lineup including Augustine Kofie, The Clayton Brothers (featured), Remi/Rough, and many more, this latest showing is another expertly curated exhibition by the dandy darling, iO Tillet Wright.
