On November 29th, art dealers Larry Gagosian and Jeffrey Deitch opened their second collaborative group exhibition for Basel Week Miami. After successful Unrealism show in 2015 (covered), this year’s edition titled Desire, attracted the creme de la creme of the world collectors with its impressive selection of works. Back in the Dutch capital for his second solo exhibition with the gallery, Marcus Harvey officially opened Shipbuilding on November 26th at Alex Daniels – Reflex Amsterdam. A couple of weekends ago, Thinkspace hosted Stella Im Hultberg’s (interviewed) new show in their project room concurrently with Audrey Kawasaki’s solo in the main space. Last Thursday, Joshua Liner Gallery held an opening reception for the New York showspace’s solo exhibition with Parra. The world recognized artist and designer presented a new series of twelve works on canvas, ink drawings, and sculpture, collectively titled No Work Today. Openings: 1010 – “Eversion” @ Hashimoto Contemporary

Last weekend, Hashimoto Contemporary welcomed in the Hamburg-based 1010 for a solo showing at their San Francisco space entitled Eversion. Mirroring his aesthetic on the streets, the German artist created a series of colorful portals, formed with graduated layers of paint on acrylic glass and mounted on aluminum dibond. When seen in public, 1010’s work has a powerful illusory effect, making the viewer see a large crevice or hole on the side of a building. Three months since its debut at the Seattle Art Fair (covered), the Juxtapoz x Superflat group show co-curated by Juxtapoz editor, Evan Pricco and Takashi Murakami opened on the November 5th at the Vancouver Art Gallery. Staying on view until February 5th, the programming included a mixture of talks, lectures, tours, and special guests. Last night, Jacob Lewis Gallery held the opening reception for their inaugural show with Hajime Sorayama. A few weeks after announcing his representation, the Chelsea-based gallery revealed his newest body of work featuring his signature Sexy Robots. The 10 new acrylic paintings and one sculpture were created around the idea of re-inventing American icons.
