Upcoming: Hush – “Allure” @ Corey Helford Gallery

The next artist to show at Corey Helford Gallery’s new space in downtown LA is British street artist Hush (interviewed). Known for his East meets West style mixed with some stylistic cues from the street, the man who hails from Newcastle will be opening his show entitled Allure on May 28th. Look for 24 new mixed media paintings as well as probably some limited editions when the fresh body of work is revealed. Discuss Hush here.

Unit London will be showing an exclusive preview of new works by Ryan Hewett (interviewed) from the 16th until the 22nd of May. Upcoming: Paco Pomet – “Recent Paintings” @ Richard Heller Gallery

For his third solo with Richard Heller Gallery, Paco Pomet will be presenting some Recent Paintings that continue his now well known modus operandi. The Granada-based artist creates works of art that look like loosely rendered vintage photos and landscapes that have unusual color accents or delightful surreal elements that can be seen when examined more closely. The opening is scheduled for May 14th for those interested in the Los Angeles area.

Releases: Dan May – “Road Trippin'” Print

On May 12th, this Thursday (12pm EST), Dan May (interviewed) will be releasing a new print entitled Road Trippin’ featuring some of his signature hairy critters going for a ride. Originally part of his Gentle Creatures print subscription but a few will be made available in his online shop. Previews: Mike Leavitt – “King Cuts” @ Jonathan LeVine Gallery

Returning to Jonathan LeVine Gallery after a successful showing there in 2013 (covered), Mike Leavitt (interviewed) will be presenting a new body of work come May 14th. Showing: Louise Bonnet – “Paintings” @ Mier Gallery

Mier Gallery in West Hollywood is currently showing the first solo exhibition of Los Angeles-based artist Louise Bonnet. The exhibition simply titled Paintings opened on April 23rd and will stay on view through June 4th. The show includes six large paintings and several drawings on paper showing Bonnet’s recognizable visual language and imagery. Her cartoon-like characters with no facial expressions feature exaggerated proportions of body parts that instead convey feelings of melancholy, nostalgia, and displacement.
