Releases: Sail – “Sagari” Print

Recently, Sail (featured) released a new print entitled Sagari online through Out Of Step Arts. The image was taken from a piece the Pacific Northwest-based artist contributed to the 4th Annual Supersonic Invitational Show. The painting was inspired by the ghost of horses left to die where they fall with the spirit caught in the trees as it rises from the body as referred to by the title. The 12 x 16″ signed and numbered edition (run of 100) costs $60 and is available here. Discuss Sail here.

Lined up neatly on tables at the front of the room were original monochromatic paintings from Ryden that were used for the art on the special plate (seen right below) used by guests the night before at the event. Each little original was given […]

When the doors open tomorrow night (October 17th) at Jonathan LeVine Gallery (529 West 20th Street), the new paintings from Seonna Hong (interviewed) will greet visitors from the walls of the Chelsea showspace. It’s been eight years since the the Los Angeles-based artist has shown in New York and in the intervening time, her melancholic and somber pieces have moved in a more hopeful direction. Previews: Mr Jago – “NIL” @ Unit London

After numerous exhibitions around the world, Mr Jago is about to present NIL at Unit London on October 22nd, his first with the gallery. For this show, the Bristol-based artist created a whole new body of work using oil for the first time, along with acrylic and spray paint. In general, the paintings are a balance between chaos and harmony, hope and despair, with Jago […]

Entitled Stranger, the very floral new body of work encompassed many different mediums including oil paintings, loosely rendered watercolor, india ink sketches, as well as sculpture. The fresh imagery is inspired by the changes in her life, with being a new parent being the most obvious. She further explains – “There was a lot of ‘heaviness of love’ that I felt since becoming a parent, […]

Openings: EGO & Grady Gordon – “The Time is Never” & “Been Seeing You Around Lately” @ Flatcolor Gallery

Befitting the month known for ghouls and ghosts, Flatcolor Gallery in Seattle welcomed in EGO and Grady Gordon to exhibit new works earlier this month. EGO’s The Time Is Never features characters with enough charming personality to overcome their stereotypical spookiness. Symbology used in several pieces, along with star fields, lends an alien or sci-fi mix to the show. Just up the stairs, Grady Gordon’s prints in Been Seeing You Around Lately offer a look into a mythological world governed by shadows. The less-than-conventional method of […]
