Currently at Chalk Horse in Sydney, Mark Whalen (featured) has a new body of work entitled Improper Fraction on display. The new ceramic works included in the exhibition sees the artist otherwise known as Kill Pixie continue explore the “universal perfection of mathematics and geometries” which you can see in the structure seen in his composition. Releases: Mark Ryden – “Apis Ectoplasm” Print

Tomorrow, May 29th, at 8 AM PDT, Porterhouse will be releasing a new print from Mark Ryden entitled Apis Ectoplasm. The print was made in collaboration with the Beyond Brookledge event and comes in an edition size of 100 (only 30 are available tomorrow). Starting on May 30th, the Kade Museum in Amersfoort, Netherlands will be hosting a retrospective of Ryan McGinley entitled simply Photographs 1999-2015. The exhibition will feature 80 works on loan from private collections in the Netherlands, England, France, Germany, Belgium, Norway, Austria and Ireland and include works from every series and period of the New York-based photographer’s career. Upcoming: Casey Weldon – “Tropefiend” @ Spoke Art

On June 6th, Casey Weldon (featured) will be opening a new show at Spoke Art in San Francisco entitled Tropefiend. Seen above is Snakehold, a new painting from the upcoming exhibition, is a good example of the Seattle-based artist’s penchant for unique color palettes and surreal imagery. Showing: Daniel Arsham – “Future Relic 3” @ Cannes Film Festival

American artist Daniel Arsham is presenting the third installment of his Future Relics series at the 68th Film Festival in Cannes. The short film features actress Juliette Lewis. In parallel to the screening, an exhibition entitled Future Relic 3 on display at the Club Albane at the Marriott, presenting relic items from the film industry era including film camera, microphones to videotapes all recreated in Arsham’s signature technique. Coming up in October of this year, Martin Wittfooth (interviewed) will be opening a solo show at Jonathan LeVine Gallery in New York. The last showing we attended in NY for the locally-based artist was back in 2011 (covered), so we are anxious to see what he has cooked up for an encore. Earlier this month, Roq la Rue welcomed back Travis Louie for his Archive of Lost Species solo show. Louie’s finely rendered acrylic paintings are once again on display, with his usual recipe of the odd and imaginary. Yoskay Yamamoto x Unispace (DesignHive DTLA)

Last week in Downtown Los Angeles, Yoskay Yamamoto (interviewed) completed a new installation for the Unispace office. Curated by Branded Arts as part of the DesignHive DTLA event, the mural and hanging sculptures from the locally-based artist played with the idea of a technology cloud with his raindrop sculptures representing data coming down from the cloud and back to the earth.
