Previews: Patrick Martinez – “FORBIDDEN FRUIT” @ New Image Art

Tonight in Los Angeles, the multidisciplinary work of Patrick Martinez will be on display at New Image Art. FORBIDDEN FRUIT will be the locally-based artist’s first solo in two years and the first with the gallery. Known for his neon pieces that take inspiration from hip hop, graffiti, and perspectives of minority culture, Martinez has created a body of work that includes pieces that combine his signature technique with sculpture and painting. Streets: Clemns Behr for ALT!rove (Catanzaro, Italy)

Kicking off the second edition of the ALT!rove street art festival this year (from 30th April to 9th May) is Clemens Behr with an impressive new mural. This year’s theme is “Abstractism – space>place” and will also feature work from 108, Alberonero, Giorgio Bartocci, Ciredz, Erosie, Graphic Surgery, Sbagliato, Sten Lex and Tellas. In addition to painting walls in Catanzaro, Italy, each artist will participate in a group show at Casa ALT!rove along with others like 2501, Martina Merlini, Moneyless, and Domenico Romeo. Previews: Deth P. Sun – “Being and Nothingness” @ Grumpy Bert

Later this month (April 25th), Deth P. Sun will be opening another show (see 2013) at Brooklyn’s Grumpy Bert entitled Being and Nothingness. The solo exhibition will feature more of his whimsical acrylic on wood paintings based on the adventures of his signature cat-like character, along with plays with text, rounded out by lush supplemental paintings. Take a look at some preview images below… Discuss Deth P. Showing: “Different Strokes” @ Hin Bus Depot (Penang)

Showing through April 11th at the Hin Bus Depot in Penang, Malaysia is Different Strokes, a group show curated by Giancarlo Petrucci of Graffiti Prints. The exhibition includes contributions from Ernest Zacharevic, Sandra Chevrier, Icy and Sot, Martin Whatson, Beejoir, Alexface, BON, Snik, Nafir, Sabek, Levalet, Roamcouch, and Gabriel Pitcher.
