Held at a popup location (217 NW 25th St.) in Wynwood Walls, the Library Street Collective show features a solid lineup of artists, many of which are associated with their program in Detroit. Basel Week Miami ‘ 14 / Releases: Barry McGee Beats Pill

One thing the AM team will be sure to try and pick up during Basel Week Miami is this sweet collaboration between Barry McGee and Beats By Dre. The limited-edition Beats Pill, featuring one of the legendary Bay Area graffiti artist’s characters smoking a joint will be available at the NADA fair with a signing scheduled for December 5th, 1-3 pm. Openings: Phil Frost – “Intuitive Mathematics” @ Galeria Javier Lopez

Last week, fans of Phil Frost in Madrid saw the opening of Intuitive Mathematics, a solo showing at Galeria Javier Lopez and his first in Spain. Seen were large scale works as well as found objects that were painted over with his recognizable aesthetic, something he calls “intuitive perceptive portraiture.” Layers upon layers of typographical and geometric shapes flow in repeating patterns that he honed to perfection over time with mark-making on the streets. Openings: Nate Frizzell – “Dark Was The Night” @ CHG Circa

Several weeks ago, CHG Circa in Los Angeles hosted the opening of Nate Frizzell’s (interviewed) new show. entitled Dark Was The Night, the new paintings featured his imagery set against a stark black background, somehow making his characters and renderings seem more vivid. Seen were the children that frequently inhabit his visual language as well as the interplay between their use of animal costumes and the actual wild creatures that roam his world. Openings: Anthony Lister – “Hurt People Hurt People” @ Lazarides Rathbone

Despite being recently arrested and charged for graffiti in his home city of Brisbane, Australian artist Anthony Lister made it through to the UK for his new solo show entitled Hurt People Hurt People at Lazarides Rathbone in London. He also managed to paint three murals on the streets in the capital city. The exhibition features colourful canvases highlighting contemporary issues, from seductive female figures in superhero outfits to soldiers and still life paintings. Adrian Falkner aka Smash137 recently opened his solo show on the 27th of November at Galerie Neuheisel in Saarbrücken, Germany. The artist that built his name by putting it up on pretty much every surface of his hometown of Basel, Switzerland from 1990 until 2005, introduced his new series of heavily abstract, graffiti inspired works titled Neue Farbe (New Color). A couple weeks ago, Doze Green presented a series new works at Jonathan LeVine Gallery entitled Out of Knowhere, his fifth showing with the Chelsea showspace. Along with new canvas paintings featuring his fusion of abstraction and cubism, the New York-born and California-based artist included a selection of monochromatic drawings on paper that represent his friends and mentors, people from NY street culture who influenced his life’s path greatly. Howard Griffin Gallery is currently presenting an exhibition and sculptural installation by Giacomo Bufarini a.k.a. RUN entitled Parabola di G. The London-based artist began painting murals on abandoned walls in Bologna and Florence in the 1990s under the pseudonym ‘RUN’ and his signature characters with interlocking hands and faces can be found from China to Senegal.
