Studio Visit: Jeff Soto – “Decay and Overgrowth” @ Jonathan LeVine

A week from Saturday, New Yorkers will feast their eyes on the lush new work of Jeff Soto (interviewed). Upcoming: Gregory Euclide @ David B. Smith Gallery

It looks like all the pieces for  Gregory Euclide’s upcoming show in Denver at the David B. Smith Gallery have arrived safely. Openings: Shepard Fairey – “Americana” @ Perry Rubenstein Gallery

Over the weekend, the debut show at Perry Rubenstein’s newly opened Los Angeles gallery featured new works from Shepard Fairey. Entitled Americana, the exhibition showcased eleven new works, each one inspired by the songs, such as Oh Susannah, This Land Is Your Land and Clementine from Neil Young’s new album Crazy Horse. “Fairey says he listened to the music and lyrics to come up with concepts for visual representations of the songs. Openings: Andrew Schoultz @ Park Life

Saturday evening, Park Life hosted an exhibition and book signing of Andrew Schoultz’s book, Up in the Air (previewed). The show featured an array of original and editioned works, as well as an installation that expanded one of his larger paintings onto the gallery wall. Be quick to check out these kinetic paintings from this bay area artist, as it is set to close Wednesday for the preparation of the gallery’s next exhibition featuring Evah Fan. Releases: Kozyndan – “Hunters: Charks an’ Kittehs” Print

Husband and wife artistic duo Kozyndan have released a new print featuring the joining of two of their favorite creatures – Sharks and Cats. Entitled Hunters: Charks an’ Kittehs, the limited edition comes in a run of 150, is signed & numbered, and is sized at 30 x 24 inches (plus 3 inch borders). Upcoming: Evah Fan – “What Have You” @ Park Life

This Friday, August 31st, following on the heels of the Andrew Schoultz showing, Evah Fan will be opening a new show at Park Life in San Francisco. The Bay Area-based artist will be presenting a selection of gouache paintings entitled What Have You featuring her colorful and often minimalistic imagery. Look for an increase in her usual size of works as well as the incorporation of collaged elements in this new body of work.

Tonight up north, while fellow Mission School alumn Barry McGee opens his midcareer survey across the bay, Andrew Schoultz will be at Park Life with a new show. Featuring paintings, editioned works, as well as a book signing, fans of the artist’s kinetic and enigmatic work would do well to head over to the event (7 – 10 PM). Upcoming: Yue Minjun – “The Tao of Laughter” @ Harbour City (Hong Kong)

Next month, starting on September 20th, Yue Minjun will be opening his first ever Hong Kong exhibition at Harbour City (site of the KAWS’ Passing Through exhibition in 2009).
