Tonight, Josh Keyes (interviewed) unveiled his latest body of work at New York’s Jonathan LeVine Gallery. As mentioned in our preview, this exhibition entitled Migration, explores the what if scenario of where ecological zones are crunched due to extreme changes in our climates. Signings: James Jean – “Rebus” @ Reed Space

James Jean (featured) is in New York right now and will be making a special stop at Jeff Staple’s Reed Space to conduct a rare signing for his newly released Rebus Book tomorrow, October 23rd (5 – 7 pm). As seen at his recent signing at the LACMA, fans will be able to catch the talented artist’s work up close and get an opportunity to grab a signature. Since the Dissected Milo set was released back in February, KAWS hasn’t released anything on the vinyl toy front, undoubtedly due to focusing on his fine art and recent solo Hold the Line. Urban artists Curtis Kulig and Skullphone recently opened their exhibition Scripture in New York’s Mallick Williams & Co. Each artist, known well for their outdoor installations, created indoor works for this show. Skullphone continued his ultra precise dot paintings (previously covered) which mimic his LED panel installations which we have come to enjoy. Last night, Homage to Yves Klein opened at the Galerie Perrotin in Paris. As the title suggests, the newest solo from Takashi Murakami was a tribute to Klein, the late French artist who is considered a leading proponent of Nouveau réalisme and developer of the famous International Klein Blue (IKB). If you remember back in July, Belgium street phenomena, ROA, had a showing at the Skalitzers in Berlin. Now the good people at that gallery have arranged a show (which opened last night “down under”) for him at the FORM Gallery in Perth entitled Paradox. Like with his participation in the Wide Open Walls project in Gambia, ROA worked in some easily recognizable local creatures that are unique due to Australia’s long geographic isolation. Over the weekend, Rivera Gallery unveiled a truly impressive exhibit titled anthro(physis), a show which fused in very interesting ways a variety of artwork ranging from sculpture to paintings. At the core of the show, the theme connecting the artwork explored the issues of nature & environment and how art can re-interpret these issues in different ways. L.A. Louver recently hosted the opening of Gajin Fujita newest solo Made in L.A, his first in Los Angeles in over five years. The American-born child of Japanese immigrants was raised in East LA, with the resulting upbringing leading to a fusion of traditional Eastern techniques and iconography with elements of Western and urban life in his art.
