Teaser: Os Gemeos – “Nos Braços de um Anjo” @ Galleria Patricia Armocida

On January 25, Otavio and Gustavo Pandolfo, better known as Os Gemeos, will open “Nos Braços de um Anjo” (In the Arms of an Angel), their second solo show at Milan’s Galleria Patricia Armocida. According to the gallery’s press release, the twins will present new canvases and sculptures, as well as a site-specific interactive installation. See two other teaser images, after the jump

Preview: Ryan McGinley – “Crooked Aisles” @ The Breeder

Athens’ The Breeder graciously sent us some preview images for “Crooked Aisles,” Ryan McGinley’s first solo show in Greece. The exhibition opening January 14 will consist of a varied selection of new and old photographs, including images from McGinley’s summer road trip and “Moonmilk” series, as well as black and white portraits. Studio Visits: Jesse Hazelip – “Sentimental Journey” @ White Walls

In 1944, the B17 Bomber “Sentimental Journey” rolled off the Douglas Aircraft Company’s California assembly line. With it’s eight thousand pound payload capacity and thirteen .50 M2 Browning machine guns, the B17 aptly earned it’s nickname, “The Flying Fortress”. The “Sentimental Journey” (whose nose proudly displays a picture of Betty Grable, World War Two’s most famous pin-up girl), the “Celestial Siren,” “South Sea Sinner,” and “Tempest Turner” are all subjects in Oakland artist Jesse Hazelip’s upcoming show at White Walls opening January 9th. Video: Remi/Rough x Jaybo @ Projectroom (Berlin)

Remi/Rough, who recently participated in the Ghost Village Project and Jaybo, who we last saw showing at the Signal Gallery got together to do a little live painting session in Berlin. Working in the Projectroom (looks like same place where Herakut live painted), the two artists collaborated on two pieces, switching between each one multiple times, and then donating them to charity.

The Warrington Museum & Art Gallery is holding an exhibition until March 13th highlighting some “Urban Art” from artists like Banksy, Blek le Rat, Gavin Turk, Adam Neate (interviewed), David Choe, Faile (featured), Lorraine Robbins, Antony Micallef (interviewed), Ron English (featured), José Parlá, Elbow-Toe (interviewed), Sam Taylor-Wood, Candice Tripp (interviewed), Swoon (interviewed) and Takashi Murakami – um, yes… Murakami. We believe the pieces are part of a private collection that also exhibited at the Stoke-on-Trent Potteries Museum & Art Gallery earlier this year.

It looks like Colin Christian (whose art was recently featured in Kayne West’s concert) is planning to go big with his upcoming show in London at the Opera Gallery. “Inner Space” will feature Colin’s full-bodied sculptures of luscious girls in what look to be tight latex suits – completely understandable as he used to make latex clothing for fetish stores around the country before he started creating his own art. We always look forward to the Pulse art fair because it is one of the only opportunities for those outside of Tokyo or Los Angeles to see the stunning carved woodblocks of Japanese artist Kenichi Yokono. This year at Pulse Miami, Yokono’s work was jointly shown by LA’s Mark Moore Gallery and Vienna’s Hilger Contemporary. Born in London, Sas Christian returns for her long anticipated show at the Opera Gallery in London opening on February 4th.
