Releases: Gary Baseman – “Midnight Magi” Figure

Today, Gary Baseman (interviewed) is set to release his first figure “Midnight Magi” with toy maker Kidrobot. This heralds the launch of Kidrobot Black, an ultra-exclusive line that features only one colorway – black, with the molds being broken after production. The cool figure is limited to only 200 pieces and will only be released on a special Kidrobot site: http://www.black.kidrobot.com. So, keep your eyes peeled for the special site to go live. Gallery 1988 in Los Angeles opened their “Under the Influence – He-Man and the Masters of the Universe” exhibition (previewed) last weekend. Information from Jerry Saltz’s Facebook account: LA MoCA just announced that Jeffrey Deitch is their new Director. He begins June 1. He will soon close his gallery. Information from LA Times: The Museum of Contemporary Art has confirmed that Jeffrey Deitch will be its new director. So, it turns out the poll that Audrey Kawasaki (interviewed) ran to choose her next print was a tie between “Yuuwaku” & “Hyakki Yakou,” so she decided to make both available (you have to choose one) to her fans. Both will be on sale on January 23rd, Saturday, between 3pm to 4pm Pacific Time for a hour window. So, the flag print and political statement from Saber we first told you about here is finally ready for release. “Flag 2010” will be a 11 color Serigraph on hand-made Nepalese Cannabina Fiber with all separations hand-painted in studio at Modern Multiples (who we visited in November) by Saber.
