We already brought you a preview of Robert Williams upcoming show at Tony Shafrazi Gallery, but here is a look at another associated project he is working on.  In collaboration with Vans Vault, he will be releasing 13 pairs of shoes with artwork from the show at DQM on Halloween, same night as his exhibition opening.  The video actually takes you through the entire process beginning with Williams working on the canvas to the screen-printing and the making of the shoe in the factory… Via […]

Next week, Irish sensation Conor Harrington (interviewed) will show a new body of work entitled “Headless Heroes” (teased). A master mixologist when it comes to urban/fine art, Conor will be opening his show on Friday (Oct 30th) at Lazarides (Rathbone Place), following the Micallef show. Baby Tattooville ’09 – Reverse Studio Visits – Audrey Kawasaki

While Greg “Craola” Simkins worked on his painting just a few feet away, AM favorite Audrey Kawasaki (interviewed) was busy working on yet another piece for her upcoming show “Hajimari – a prelude” for Jonathan LeVine (teased) later this year. Watching Audrey layer colors and skin tones delicately over an initial sketch on wood was a real treat as well as a great insight to her process. More pictures after the jump.

Showing: Chet Zar – “Lilith” @ Copro Gallery

AM had the chance to stop by Copro Gallery the other day to check out Chet Zar’s current show “Lilith.”  This will be the last weekend the show is on display, so make sure to take a look if you are in town. Chet does not paint female figures that often, so this was definitely something new to feast your eyes on. The colors he chose really complemented the mood he was trying to achieve as you can see painting above (purchased by Guillermo del […]

Preview: Gregory Euclide @ David B. Smith Gallery

Openings: “Three Apples” Hello Kitty Show @ Royal T

Hate it or love it, Hello Kitty (HK) is alive and well, thriving in fact. This globally recognized icon kicked off her birthday festivities with last night’s VIP opening of “3 Apples: An Exhibition Celebrating 35 Years of Hello Kitty” at Royal/T Cafe (if you remember, a previous KAWS event was held there) in Culver City. Reveling in a stat that might make most women cringe, “3 Apples,” publicly references this 35-year-old’s weight. Don’t worry, Ms. Kitty, three apples doesn’t really weigh that much. Some […]

Also, we had the opportunity to talk with the man behind it all – Eric Nakamura, one of the founders of […]

Preview: “True Self” curated by Gary Baseman @ Jonathan Levine Gallery

BT alumni Gary Baseman (interviewed) is curating a fabulous group show at Jonathan LeVine Gallery this Saturday (Oct. 24th). Aptly named “True Self”, the show encourages each artist to look deep inside themselves and create an image which they feel represents their own passion or obsession. The show has a stacked roster of strong participants such as Adam Wallacavage, Christian Clayton (featured), Cleon Peterson, Dalek (interviewed), Dave Cooper, Eric White (interviewed), Esther Pearl Watson, Friends With You, Gary Taxali, James Jean (interviewed), Korin Faught, Lola, Luke […]
