Preview: Damien Hirst – “The Souls” @ Paul Stolper Gallery

It’s become more than apparent now that Damien Hirst has  a thing for the fragile beauty of butterflies.  They will completely take over his next show “The Souls”, which will feature 120 vibrant foilblock butterfly prints.  The exhibition in total is made up of 4 butterflies, in 80 different colourways, each one in an edition of 15 and rumored to cost £3,000 each.  Flutter over to Paul Stolper Gallery starting Oct 7 to check them out. Check out a preview of Christina Empedocles’ latest body of work, titled “As Evidenced”, to premiere this Friday at Denver’s David B. Previews: KAWS – “Passing Through” @ Harbour City (Hong Kong)

Last month we brought you a teaser of Kaws with his ginormous 5 meter high companion. Created to greet guests entering Kowloon’s Harbour City in for Hong Kong, the awe inspiring figure has arrived safely for it’s October 3rd opening entitled “Passing Through”. It appears that the city is preparing for the opening with assorted character wall paper installations to compliment the exhibition at the main entrances. Previews: “Brit Paint” @ Carmichael Gallery

The Carmichael Gallery will celebrate it’s three year anniversary this Saturday night by hosting a show entitled “Brit Paint”. Britain known for setting trends in the street art scene, but many fans may not know that it has some fine painters using the old-school painterly methods. Featuring a collection of works from Micallef (interviewed), Will Barras, Simon Birch, Guy Denning, Tobias Keene and Ian Francis (featured) – there’s certainly plenty of talent in this lot. Currently showing over in Denmark at this year’s Art Copenhagen is Dave White’s “Forgotten Alchemy”. The series is a little different from the signature sneaker paintings he is famous for, but you can definitely see his style come through with these gun renderings.
