Teaser: Tom French & Rone – “Don’t Look Back” @ Zero Cool

Next week Thursday, April 26th, the Zero Cool Gallery will be hosting a joint exhibition by Tom French (featured) and Rone entitled Don’t Look Back. Last we heard, French’s studio was in Newcastle so this will be local for him. It looks like he will be including some of those fantastic skull pieces that play on perspective in this showing while Australian street artist Rone will be contributing some of his stylized portraits. Teaser: Shawn Barber – “Tattooed Portraits” @ Joshua Liner Gallery

Coming up at the end of June, Joshua Liner will be hosting a new solo from Shawn Barber (interviewed). Featuring his Tattooed Portraits, this second showing (see 2010) with the New York gallery draws on his day job as a successful tattoo artist for inspiration on a series of rich oil paintings including a huge 72″ x 108″ piece of Japanese tattooist Shige. Teaser: KAWS – “The Nature of Need” @ Galerie Perrotin (Hong Kong)

After Passing Through Hong Kong in 2010 with the debut of his now famous massive sitting companion which has now also travelled to New York, and Connecticut, KAWS will be giving his fans in Asia what they have been jonesing for – a solo show. Scheduled to open on May 15th at Galerie Perrotin, The Nature of Need will feature more of the New York based artist and designer’s colorful geometric abstractions. Teaser: Barry McGee @ Gallery Paule Anglim Off-Site Space

There’s not much info out on this, but thought we would mention it for our readers in the Bay Area tonight (April 14th). Barry McGee, who’s a legend up there, will be revealing an installation at Gallery Paule Anglim’s offsite space (1717 17th Street in San Francisco’s Potrero Hill district) along with some other invited artists. The reception if 3-6 pm so head over early if you don’t want to miss it. This should a nice warmup for McGee’s upcoming PRISM showing in Los Angeles. […]

Teaser: “Tropico Post – Apocalyptic” @ Extra Extra Gallery

With the opening booked for April 7th, the Tropico Post – Apocalyptic group exhibition artists will be filling the Extra Extra Gallery in Philadelphia with their work soon. Gideon Chase, Rachel de Joode, Joe Lacina, Alex Lukas, Matthew Palladino and Erin M. Teaser: “Fifty Fifty” @ Mathgoth Galerie

Tomorrow night (April 4th), Mathgoth Galerie in Paris will be opening their Fifty Fifty group exhibition. For this showing, artists were asked to work with 50 x 50 cm canvases to create whatever they wanted. Nick Walker (interviewed) sent over a look at what he submitted, but if you are in town you may want to also check out what C215, Cope2, Cornbread, Crash, Labrona, L’Atlas, Smash137, Tilt, Zevs, and more have contributed. Teaser: Nimit Malavia – “Finding Together Again” @ Spoke Art

This Thursday night (April 5th), Nimit Malavia will be opening his solo exhibition Finding Together Again at Spoke Art in San Francisco. Drawing from a background in illustration, the Canada-based Malavia has created a body of work that features worlds of reinterpreted myths and religious symbols with imagery alive with raw emotion and wild movement.
