David Choe – Choegal Origins

David Choe posted up some images on his blog that showed some of the creative process behind his Choegal figure that he recently released. He included a painting that Choegal was apparently based on as well as progress shots of the sculpt, various faces, etc…  Check out the photo set after the jump.

AM stopped by yesterday at GR2 for the signing and release of David Choe’s “Choegal” toy. Many fans braved the cold weather and some lined up for over an hour to get their figure as well the poster of the current Giant Robot magazine cover signed.  More photos after the jump.

Releases: Choegal – David Choe

The long awaited wooden Choegal figure from David Choe has been released. Limited to 1000 pieces and priced modestly at $45, it features mechanical parts, three facial expressions (happy, sad, angry), and comes with a mini comic book. These were produced and available here at Ningyoushi in conjunction with Upper Playground. We believe these are all hand-painted so no two are different, but not by Choe. Yoskay Yamamoto has been working closely with Munky King to produce the second colorway of his “Koibito” vinyl figure. Since the initial all black colorway sold out at the SDCC this summer, fans have been clamoring for another colorway to add to their collection.
