Video: “Outside the Box” @ Hammer Museum

Last weekend, the Hammer Museum at UCLA opened up a show entitled “Outside the Box” focusing on limited edition prints. The exhibition displays the recently acquired Edition Jacob Samuel archive of prints put out by the publisher which includes work by notables like Ed Ruscha, Anish Kapoor, Chirstopher Wool, Marina ABramovic, John Baldessari, and Barry McGee among many others. Video: Art HK 2010

Art HK 2010 recently opened their doors to over 150 galleries from all over the world to display their wares in the increasingly important cultural hub of Asia – Hong Kong. Video: JR – “Women Are Heroes” Movie

As we mentioned in a previous post, French photographer JR’s film “Women Are Heroes” has been selected for the 63rd Cannes Film Festival. Bringing his project full circle, the movie documents his travels around the world photographing victimized and impoverished women and then pasting them up in their own neighborhoods and towns, sending a powerful message of hope and strength. Installation: Agents of Change @ “Future Everything” Festival (Manchester, UK)

It seems that Agents of Change have gone large again as part of the “Future Everything” Festival. If you didn’t catch the live stream of the AoC’s latest project up in Manchester over the last few days, check out this trailer video produced by the collective documenting some of the installation. Video / Teaser: Os Gemeos @ Museu Colecção Berardo

Sounds like Lisbon has some street artists visiting in the next several months with some pretty exciting things planned.  First up are the Brazilian duo Os Gemeos and their show opening up on Monday, May 17th, at the Museu Colecção Berardo. After stellar shows in Cologne, Paris and London, street artist Roa moves on the next big city – New York. We expect some large installs in the Big Apple as the Belgium-based artist likes to go big whether inside or outside of the gallery. Openings: “Now’s the Time” @ Black Rat Press

As we mentioned in our preview, Black Rat Projects opened their doors a while back to a pretty impressive collection of the street scene a couple weeks ago. Just like the “Thousands” show last year, this exhibition gave fans a chance to see all their favorite street artists (including Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, Shepard Fairey (featured), Swoon (interviewed), Banksy, Barry Mcgee, Faile (featured) and Os Gemeos) at the same time under one roof. Video / Studio Visits: Blek le Rat – “Faces in the Mirror” @ White Walls

On May 1st,  White Walls is having a show with French street artist Blek Le Rat. One of the originators of the stencil technique for the street art movement, we are excited to see what he will bring to the good folks of SF in his latest show “Faces in the Mirror”. Video: D.I.Y. America – Os Gemeos

The good people behind D.I.Y. America (who also produced Beautiful Losers), a documentary series, have focused one of their episodes on one of our favorites street artist duos, Os Gemeos. In this video, you can see the twins being interviewed about their work, history, and philosophy and also there is some pretty awesome footage of them in action and their paintings.
