It looks like the prolific anatomical street artist ROA has recently added his name to the long list of artists that have been invited by the Le Mur association in Paris to paint their billboard.  Others who have been by before include Zevs, C215, Shepard Fairey, WK Interact, Swoon, Above and Nick Walker, although it looks like the Belgium-based painter is one of the only ones to creatively utilize the surrounding space with his x-ray vision. Earlier this week, Chinese contemporary artist Liu Bolin continued his Hiding In New York series (previous location) on Greenwich Street at the the Tiles For America site dedicated to 9/11. AM was on hand to capture the session as the iron willed artist literally stood on the same spot for hours on end as assistants meticulously painted him into the somber backdrop of tiles representing victims of 9/11 hung on a chain-linked fence – quite a artistic statement for the artist who will open his […]

From our sources, Conor Harrington (interviewed) is getting ready for a big solo in London at the beginning of 2012 and some of his work will eventually make it to the new Lazarides space in Los Angeles. Still, he’s making time for the streets as he takes a break from his studio and his fine art making. This time, he has returned to his home country and decided to paint a rodeo rider being thrown off his bull, a metaphor for his views on the current political […]

After pasting up his newest piece at the prominent Bowery & Houston location in New York, JR continued his Inside Out project and his focus on the Dakota Native Americans with an even larger mural at what looks like another popular wall.  Nice touch also leaving the graf and Shepard Fairey piece untouched on the wall. More photos after the jump as the French street photographer hit up other locations in the NYC.

Last week we first showed you the pics of the prominent Bowery & Houston mural completed by French artist JR. The famed photographer utilized the simple but enlarged image of Native American “DJ 2 Bears”. Of course, no man is an island. JR called in the help from some friends involved in the (Sioux) Standing Rock Nation project in the Dakotas to help finish wheat pasting the location. AM caught the crew hard at work on the streets of Manhattan. Check out the photos taken for […]

Second (first was Moneyless) to hit the streets of Grottaglie for this year’s Fame Festival are Cyop & Kaf. Continuing where they left off from last year’s event, the duo from Naples continued getting up around town with their bizarre imagery although their efforts weren’t without complications. AM is looking forward to seeing more artists stop in on the small Italian town as we draw closer to the opening of what we consider one of the best annual street art festivals in Europe. More photos […]

Would you like to see this drawing from Eric Fortune (interviewed) completed as a painting? The illustrator turned fine artist recently took his fans on a step by step look at his creative process on his blog of his lastest work.  Eric takes us pretty far down the development of this piece (seen after the jump), but to see the final result, you will have to head over to Jonathan LeVine Gallery for their annual summer opening August 10th.

Faile (featured), the Brooklyn-based artist collective, have revealed new work on the streets just a few blocks away (Gjelina Restaurant) from the Post No Bills Gallery in Venice, California where they are exhibiting a collection of work detailing their artistic careers (show photos to follow). The wall was covered in the salon style that has been seen in some of their recent street work and also featured a sprinkling of co-conspirator Bast’s imagery. More photos after the jump…

Prolific street artist Phlegm continues to his assault on derelict walls in Sheffield. After taking a break to hit up London, the UK-based artist struck closer to home with this complex piece although we aren’t sure how zombies got involved. With so many sweet murals under his belt, that wall-based photographic comic he is working up is shaping up quite nicely – can’t wait. Another detailed shot after the jump…

Ron English has landed in London and is already working the streets with his signature Popaganda disruptions. He sent us some images during some computer breaks from putting up his new Thoughtful street campaign. If you’re fortunate enough to be in the UK starting this Friday, be sure to catch his show Skin Deep: Post-Instinctual Afterthoughts On Psychological Portraiture opening at Lazarides (Rathbone Place). Also check out our recent visit to his mad laboratory here to get an idea of the new body of work he has prepared […]
