A 23 foot tall, 20 ton bronze teddy bear from Urs Fischer was recently installed in New York at the Park Avenue plaza. The signature sculptural piece entitled Untitled (Lamp/Bear) from the young Swiss artist will be in place for public consumption until it goes on the block next month at Christie’s where it’s expected to fetch over $10 million dollars. To install the work, the auction house had to get six city permits and pay to reinforce the floor so that it could take […]
As you know, there is a little show called Art in the Streets set to open to the public this weekend in Los Angeles. Besides work inside the MOCA and the surrounding walls, some artists like Invader here could not resist hitting up other parts of the city with their work. Take a look at more detailed pics of this tiled piece in Culver City as well as another piece in Echo Park after the jump…
The clock is ticking as the artists are putting the finishing touches on the Art in the Streets exhibition at the MOCA Los Angeles. Set to open to the public this Sunday, the show was in the final stages of preparation as AM stopped by today to check on the progress both indoors and out. After a quick lap indoors, we feel confident enough to tell you that this looks to be one the best show that we’ve ever seen. Bad news is that we […]

Reminiscent of the Zombie Oscar Statues he installed in Runyon Canyon and in the parking lot of the famous Mel’s Drive-In in Hollywood in 2010, D*Face (featured) placed a custom tombstone early this morning at the Charlie Sheen star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Make sure you stop by on Saturday night at the Corey Helford Gallery to check out his new body of work entitled Going Nowhere Fast (for a preview, see our studio visit) and also to enjoy the mural he painted […]
Take a look at this complex piece from ROA from back in February at Unit44 entitled The Four Horses Of The Apocalypse. The mural was painted for the White Walls project in Newcastle which is a coincidence because the Belgium-based artist will be opening a show this Saturday night, April 9th, at the White Walls gallery in San Francisco. This sweet stack of animals and skeletons was the first time the prolific street artist has incorporated color into one of his walls, so it will […]
We stopped by Culver City today to check out the near complete mural D*Face (featured) is painting on the side of the Corey Helford Gallery, site of his new show, Going Nowhere Fast, opening this Saturday night. As you can see, D is exploring melding his imagery with elements of Lichtenstein’s work, which we also saw in our earlier studio visit. We will certainly be looking forward to seeing more of this fresh new direction at the opening and you can also expect more coverage […]
D*Face is currently putting the final touches to a whole new body of work for his US West Coast debut solo show Going Nowhere Fast opening on April 9th at Corey Helford Gallery’s Culver City spot. AM has been anticipating what Face would come up with for this show, as he always turns up the heat for solo exhibitions and brings in new themes. We went along to his studio recently to see how the work was coming together and grabbed a few shots of […]

In preparation for his newest exhibition, which opened last weekend, Gaia went to town on The Windy City with his intricate animal centric wheat paste creations. With well over ten pieces located in various Chicago neighborhoods, the street artist has created a virtual playground for local art fans. His impressive outdoor efforts were set upon the backdrop of Resplendent Semblance, an exhibition of gallery work hosted by Maxwell Colette Gallery. Not only was a selection of his more traditional decollage works on wood on display, […]
With a huge solo exhibition currently showing in NYC at the Jonathan LeVine Gallery (check out our coverage of it here), performances with the band Nightmare and the Cat, including in NY, LA, and Austin at SXSW, and inclusion in group and benefit exhibitions, Gary Baseman has had a very busy last few weeks. We were very fortunate to be able to visit the native Angeleno in his home studio as he prepared for his first show in six years in the contemporary art capital […]
Reminiscent of the fantastic JR x Vhils collaboration we witnessed in LA during the Eurotrash invasion last year, it looks like Vhils has busted out his tools again and has hooked up with another street artist for a project. As you know from our feature his recent piece in Lisbon, Conor Harrington’s (interviewed) was in town and apparently also put up this piece with some of Vhils’ special techniques although the effects weren’t as evident as the JR collab, perhaps since it was not as […]
