Urban Nation in Berlin recently teamed up with Juxtapoz Magazine, and its editor Evan Pricco, to curate their latest edition of PM/events. What In the World: The Juxtapoz Edition is the title of the group show that opened on May 19th, further introducing the wide range of urban art that this upcoming museum will be showing and supporting. As we mentioned before, James Jean (interviewed) has a live and work space in West LA near Little Osaka. Called Hide Out, the house has already won multiple awards including the A+ Award from Architizer and the Honor Award for Residential Adaptive Reuse from AIA LA. At the Rockefeller Center in New York, Jeff Koons has just revealed a new 45 foot inflatable sculpture entitled Seated Ballerina. The American sculptor’s third piece to be displayed at the NYC landmark is intended to “conveys optimism and a sense of potential for the future” while bringing awareness to National Missing Children’s Month as well as the International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children (ICMEC). Openings: “Flourish” @ Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum

Over the weekend, the Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum in Arizona hosted the opening of Flourish, a group show curated by Thinkspace Gallery. Over 100 artists contributed to the exhibition but the standouts for us were the murals from Esao Andrews and Nosego as well as a sweet hanging installation from Felipe Pantone. Following recent works from Felipe Pantone (covered) and Natalia Rak (covered), Cinta Vidal has just completed her contribution to the RAD Napa project (curated by Thinkspace and sponsored by The Napa Valley Wine Train). The piece from the Spanish artist featured some of the architectural imagery and play with perspective that she has become known for. Releases: Mark Ryden – “Princess Praline and Her Entourage” Print

With his upcoming New York show featuring artwork from the ballet (covered) he worked on with the American Ballet Theater opening on May 20th, Mark Ryden (interviewed) will also be releasing an associated print on May 19th. Princess Praline and Her Entourage looks to be an image taking from some of Ryden’s concept art from his set and costume design work. The print will be produced in a run of 1000, measuring 13.5″ x 39″, and will be priced at $250 (a portion of the proceeds will benefit the American Ballet Theatre). Head […]
