Previews: KAWS – “FAR FAR DOWN” @ Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis

Today at the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis, KAWS will be continuing his bevy of museum exhibitions with a new showing entitled FAR FAR DOWN. The Brooklyn-based artist has prepared a mural of his snoopy inspired black & white abstractions on CAM’s 60-foot long Project Wall, with the the work serving as a backdrop for three new paintings. Faile Ceramic Tile House Installation (Venice)

Recently in Venice, California, Faile (featured) completed an tile installation that wrapped around the facade of one of the housesoff a side street of Abbot Kinney (741 California Avenue). If you recall, the Brooklyn-based duo have worked with tiles before in some of their installations like the Faile Temple (covered). From April 29th until May 18th, Giant Robot 2 welcomes back Mike Lee with another show of his unmistakable oils on paper, mylar and canvas. Rebound continues the body of work from his previous solo with the Los Angeles-based gallery, Repose, and is in particular focused on love. Using the softness of oil as a major feature, his monochromatic images feature faceless and featureless characters in various settings. This Saturday night, May 6th, Spoke Art in San Francisco will be opening a new group show entitled TONDO. As the name of the exhibition suggests, over 50 artists were asked to contribute works that were round with creative license to use their own style and imagery. Streets: Aryz // Jidar Festival (Morocco)

Recently in Rabat, Aryz had the opportunity to return to Morocco for another mural and to drink “avocado juice.” Painted on the side of a six story building, the beautiful new piece features one of the Spanish artist’s reoccurring still life images. Invited in by the good people of the Jidar Festival, he left a wall covered in his recognizable smooth style and pastel palette that the locals will not soon forget. Discuss Aryz here.
