Over the course of a few weeks, Tauba Auerbach was able to complete stunning mural in San Francisco with the help of a two man crew. Situated in the Tenderloin and arranged with the help of Luggage Store Gallery, the wall sees the locally-based artist step out of her comfort zone (like with NY Fireboat project) to create something special, what she calls her largest painting ever. Later this week, the Moniker Art Fair in London will be the venue for Andrew Hem’s (interviewed) latest solo showing. Presented by Thinkspace Gallery, the new acrylic paintings from the American artist continues his use of a vivid palette while painting imagery inspired by his heritage, travels, and street culture. This new body of work also sees Hem further explore his recent fascination with the meta “painting within a painting” motif which you can see above as well in other pieces below. An unusual new housewares “store” called Gross Domestic Product opened overnight in the south London town of Croyd0n. Turns out Banksy has now confirmed that the elaborate art installation is his, an attempt to hold off a greeting card company from seizing legal custody of his name by creating his own range of merchandise. The showroom on view for two weeks and featuring its own security guards will never open its doors, with all eventual sales being conducted online. No word yet on exactly what, when, or how […]

Over the weekend, Schauwerk Sindelfingen in Sindelfingen opened the first retrospective exhibition in over 15 years in Germany from American artist Tom Sachs. A master of the DIY aesthetic, the New York-based artist is known for using his unique bricolage technique to remake motifs influenced by everyday culture, the consumer world, and history with common materials and found objects.
