Releases: Elian Chali – “Hábitat” Book

Argentinian artist Elian Chali recently released his book entitled Hábitat. The softcover publication was released in edition of 1000 and it includes 208 pages with photographs, three essays and a foreword written by Martha Cooper (interviewed). In a conceptual sense, the book is a look over a city from the point of view of a regular person. Recap: Rose Beton Festival (Toulouse)

Curated by Tilt, the second edition of the Rose Beton Festival in Toulouse (FR) paid tribute to the graffiti scene. The festival kicked off with an exhibition at Chateau d’Eau featuring the iconic photographs by Martha Cooper  & Henry Chalfont (interviewed) as well as emerging photographer Sylvain Fargot. On 6th of September, the Artplay Design Center in Moscow was the host to the opening of the Artmossphere Street Art Biennale. Streets: Gaia (Baltimore)

Last week, South West Baltimore saw a new mural go up from Gaia on McHenry Street honoring the late Nelson Mandela. Entitled Kurema, Kureba, Kwiga, the piece was painted in solidarity with the Colour Ikamva project in Rwanda and Martha Cooper’s (interviewed) Sowebo/Soweto documentation.
