Streets: Evoca1 (Vienna)

Dominican artist Evoca1 was recently invited to Austrian capital by Inoperable Gallery to create one of his murals. After about a week of painting, the artist recently finished a beautiful piece titled Imperishable Relics that has his signature feel of classic painting to it. Working on a large building in Vienna, the piece comments on a series of flak towers that Hitler ordered to be constructed in Germany and Austria to defend against air attacks and serve as shelters back in the 1940s. These buildings are still […]

Cinta Vidal For Guzzo Club (Barcelona)

Recently in Barcelona, Cinta Vidal (featured) painted a sweet little mural for Guzzo Club featuring some of her signature imagery. The new piece featured one of her architectural oddities that has Escher-like feel with it’s impossibly connecting stairs and disregard for gravity. The Spanish artist painted this as part of the Inner Landscapes Chapter 2 show slated to open on October 28th. Discuss Cinta Vidal here.

Streets: Brusk / Art Rua (Rio de Janeiro)

Last month, we shared with you something Titi Freak painted during the fifth annual ArtRua fair in Rio de Janeiro. Turns out, a member of the Da Mental Vaporz crew was also in town painting a much larger 25m high mural entitled You’ll Sweat Blood And Water. Created over four days by Brusk, the impressive wall featured a disintegrating fire extinguisher made up of graffiti letterforms. Take a look at more photos below… Discuss Da Mental Vaporz here.

Recap: Forest For The Trees (Portland) – Part II

After sharing with you the first batch of murals for this year’s Forest For The Trees, here is now a look at some of the more recently finished walls for the event. Organizers Gage Hamilton and Matt Wagner of Hellion Gallery put together a strong roster for 2015 and these latest photos feature work from Andrew Hem (seen above), Gage Hamilton himself, Michael Reader, Michael Salter, as well as a collaboration between INSA & Zach Johnson on a “giffiti.” Check out some more photos below and see if you can locate them […]

Showing: RUN – “Man Is God” @ Howard Griffin Gallery

Showing through the end of the month at Howard Griffin Gallery is a new solo from Giacomo Bufarini a.k.a. RUN, a followup to his show with the gallery last year (covered). The Italian artist has made his name painting his iconic characters around the world with their recognizable large heads. For Man Is God, he takes this to the next level with large three-dimensional representations that almost take on a sacred feel like the Easter Island heads. This installation is surrounded by ceremonial banners that cover the walls […]

Releases: Sail – “Sagari” Print

Recently, Sail (featured) released a new print entitled Sagari online through Out Of Step Arts. The image was taken from a piece the Pacific Northwest-based artist contributed to the 4th Annual Supersonic Invitational Show. The painting was inspired by the ghost of horses left to die where they fall with the spirit caught in the trees as it rises from the body as referred to by the title. The 12 x 16″ signed and numbered edition (run of 100) costs $60 and is available here. Discuss Sail here.

Openings: Mr Freeze / ‘Lost & Found’ (Toulouse)

For the third year running (see 2014), the Mister Freeze exhibition opened recently and gathered over thirty national and international graffiti and street artists in Toulouse, France. Organised by Faute O Graff, the must-see event took place in the Cobalt building, a former industrial warehouse of 26,000 sq ft. During the week, visitors could enjoy artworks of established artists like Alëxone, Gris1 or Reso alongside emerging talents with different artistic styles – graffiti, post-graffiti, illustrative – along with murals, installations and workshops. Things were set up in […]

Streets: How & Nosm (New Jersey)

On Sunday, October 18th, Mana Contemporary in New Jersey officially opened their latest commissioned work to the public – a large-scale mural by How & Nosm. Titled At The Center of It All, the piece was finished only four days before its official reveal during the open house  event. The twin brothers and artist duo from NY stated that the image explores themes that they feel are universally common. This was done through the use of various visual elements familiar in their previous work. Subjects such as danger, aggression, […]

Baby Tattooville ’15: Mark Ryden Paintings

Our last piece of business to close out our coverage of this year’s Baby Tattooville is to show you the glorious sight that greeted attendees at brunch on Sunday, the morning after the once-in-a-lifetime experience of the Surrealist Ball hosted by Mark Ryden and Marion Peck. Lined up neatly on tables at the front of the room were original monochromatic paintings from Ryden that were used for the art on the special plate (seen right below) used by guests the night before at the event. Each little original was given […]
