Last week, Soundwall in New York unveiled Resonance, a new immersive installation by Aaron Li-Hill (interviewed) made possible by LeBasse Projects. Made from wood, aerosol, primer and acrylic mirror, the piece was inspired by one of the Brooklyn-based artist’s favorite music groups – A Tribe Called Red. On October 17th, If You Lived Here I’d Be Home By Now will open at Jonathan LeVine Gallery (529 West 20th Street), a new body of work from Seonna Hong. For the upcoming Krasnoyarsk Museum Biennale in Russia, the Berlin-based EVOL has prepared a special installation featuring his signature reproduction of urban structures. The twist on this piece though, entitled Mind the Gap, is the red-tinged separation that runs right down the center of the buildings. Finally released from a house arrest by the government after 600 days on 22th of July, Ai Weiwei has been very active in the recent months. The Centro de Arte Contemporáneo de Málaga is currently exhibiting his touring show Circle of Animals / Zodiac Heads, which is his first showing in Spain. FinBec winery in Sion, Switzerland, is continuing their annual MyFinBec art project with a completely new concept. This year, they are commissioning artists to paint canvases for their limited edition organic wines, as well as number of sketches on wood panels, and they just announced their first artist for this year is Bezt from Etam Cru, who also collaborated with the winery last year (covered). On September 11th CULT / Aimee Friberg Exhibitions in San Francisco opened Haptic Render, a solo exhibition of new drawings and installations by Francesco Igory Deiana. With this show, the locally-based artist introduced a new direction in his work, exploring the translation of form between the digital and analog worlds. Three years since her last official print release, Katrin Fridriks last week released her latest edition Royal Gene&Ethics with Lazarides Editions. Being a perfectionist on all levels of her production, this print was over a year in the making and the final result looks truly impressive. Intricate, detailed, and elegant, Tahiti Pherson’s hand-cut monochromatic works on paper are currently on exhibition at Joseph Gross Gallery in NY’s Chelsea gallery district. Fans and admirers received a up-close and personal look at the fascinating pieces that the artist has made both in two and three-dimensions. The labor of love is on full display, as Pherson devotes an average of 100 hours for each of his works. See them for yourself in the images below and visit the gallery before the show ends on Oct 3.

Returning to Boston for the third and final piece in a series of public works on the tallest building in the city, JR (interviewed) decided place his new work on the 44th to 50th floor. Standing at 150 feet tall and 86 feet wide, the piece is the tallest work ever envisioned by the French photograffeur.
