Upcoming / Videos: Jen Stark x Miley Cyrus for VMA’s

Continuing to collaborate artists that speak to a new generation of viewers (see KAWS & Dabs Myla), MTV has tapped the visual language of Jen Stark for 2015’s VMA. Working with host Miley Cyrus on this year’s award show, the Los Angeles-based artist looks to be integrating her recognizable psychedelic & colorful imagery in animations, video spots (example below), ads, and artwork for the stage, among other things.  You can catch it all this Sunday night, August 30th. Releases: El Mac – “Los Campesinos” Print

Today between 10 – 11 am PDT, El Mac will be releasing a new print through The Desert Soul. Los Campesinos is adapted from the gifted street artist’s acrylic painting based on images of farmers he photographed in southern Mexico, subject matter we have seen echoed in his outdoor work in the past (2014, 2015). Streets: James Bullough (Richmond)

For those who enjoyed the mural James Bullough painted at the Long Beach Museum of Art (covered), take a look at what he followed it up with. Going big in Virginia for the Richmond Mural Project last month, the Berlin-based artist got up on the side of building situated on Lombardy & Broad streets. His portraiture oftentimes features the image broken up sporadically like it was transmitted with glitches, resulting in a signature fractured look. Photo credit: Benjah Photography. Upcoming: Mars-1 Sculptures @ Burning Man

Taking his bronze sculptures to the next level, Mars-1 (featured) has prepped three massive new pieces for this year’s Burning Man. The eclectic week-long annual event in Northern Arizona has seen the San Francisco-based artist’s organic imagery before (see 2010), but nothing in three dimensions. Previews: Geoff McFetridge – “It Looks Like It Says” @ Joshua Liner Gallery
