After installing a whimsical new installation in Washington DC with his Snarkitechture firm, Daniel Arsham has turned his attention to a more solo pursuit. Fictional Archeology sees the New York-based artist bring his signature technique of creating everyday objects as how they would appear if found by archeologists in the future to the Hong Kong branch of Galerie Perrotin on September 11th. Streets: Ericailcane (Italy)

Last week for the BREGHEDEBRE event in Sassari, Italy, Ericailcane was invited in to paint the facade of the facade of the former Hotel Turritania. After this was completed, artists Andrea D’Ascanio, Andrea Casciu, Kiki Skipi, Elisa Desortes, Bastardilla joined the Italian mural painter in holding a live printmaking session for their fans. Upcoming: Takashi Murakami – “The 500 Arhats” @ Mori Art Museum

Coming up on October 31st, Takashi Murakami will be unveiling his first solo exhibition in Japan in over 14 years. The title The 500 Arhats at the Mori Art Museum references the piece that will be the showstopper, a 100-meter-long painting which was created as a thank you to the nation of Qatar, one of the first to offer assistance after the earthquake and tsunami in 2011 in Japan. Showing: Revok – “Revok” @ Ruttkowski;68

With his most recent solo show titled Revok, Jason Williams aka REVOK introduced his latest concepts and works at Ruttkowski;68 in Cologne, Germany. Opened on August 14th, the show will stay on view until September 27th. The title of the shows refers to the concept of identity that he has been exploring since 1990, when he adopted the name as his alias. REVOK was only a tag or a pseudonym when he started out as a graffiti artist, but later on it became a frame within which he can define himself without social constraints. […]

James Jean x Momofuku Commission

After painting a mural last month for POW! WOW! Long Beach (covered), James Jean (interviewed) has started work on a new project. Utilizing large panels, the gifted painter looks to be prepping a large installation for friend and chef David Chang’s Momofuku restaurant group. The name can be loosely translated to “lucky peach” which explains why Jean used the peach as his focus for the commissioned works.
