The Popular Workshop in San Francisco opened The Fall, a solo show by Francesco Igory Deiana on the 27th of September. The Italian born artist created a new body of work continuing and evolving his imagery and concepts. Pete Fowler recently opened a solo show at the infamous The Book Club in London. Titled Theme From Boat Weirdos, the show features new paintings and drawings as well as the site specific installation/mural, as a sequel to his previous solo show at Outlaws Yacht Club in Leeds earlier in the year. Last month, AM paid a visit to the Andrew Edlin Gallery in New York to take in a new solo show from Brian Adam Douglas (interviewed), otherwise known as Elbow-Toe. Utilizing a painstaking process involving shards of cut paper in place of brush strokes, the resulting art works are amazingly textural and complex. The inaugural edition of STRARTA fair was opened this weekend at Saatchi Gallery, at the very beginning of London art week. Not long after finishing his big installation at Rice University Art Gallery, prolific artist Gaia is back on the streets focusing on a new mural in Kingston, NY for the O+ Festival, a very unique event in which artists exchange their contributions for health and wellness services from art-loving doctors, dentists, and other medical providers. Tonight in San Francisco, Michael Page (interviewed) will be opening his solo at the Shooting Gallery. We visited his showing at the same space last year, so we are looking forward to seeing how his work has progressed for The Places We’ll Go. Featuring a psychedelic mix of colors and surreal imagery, the new acrylic and oil paintings infuse the mind of the viewer with Page’s vibrant aesthetic.
