Jim Houser Mural @ Elixr Coffee (Philadelphia)

Philly-based painter, Jim Houser, recently worked on an indoors mural at Elixr Coffee in Philadelphia, as a part of their art program. While his works are showing in couple of group shows at the moment, Jim worked on his piece for couple of days, painting an image based on a small family portrait that is hanging in his son’s room. Using his signature palette of colors, and straight, very graphic lines and imagery, the piece has three birds in a peaceful, loving hug. Elixr plans to commission two indoor and […]

Opening: Carl Cashman – ‘Every Time I Close My Eyes, All I See Is This’ @ Breeze Block Gallery

British painter Carl Cashman opened his debut solo show Every Time I close My Eyes, All I See Is This at Breeze Block Gallery in Portland, OR (previewed) on August 1st. The show was a massive success for the young artist, and out of 42 pieces he prepared for this show, only one is left unsold at the moment of writing this article. His strongest body of work so far was obviously working well with a much wider audience besides local art lovers, because  the day after the opening only 7 […]

Preview: Luke Chueh – “Random Acts Of Sadness” @ CHG Circa

Tomorrow night at CHG Circa, fans can attend the opening of Luke Chueh’s (featured) newest show in Culver City. Featuring mostly new works from the Los Angeles-based painter, Random Acts Of Sadness will include pieces that place his cast of animal characters in unfortunate situations (including more from his You Are What You Eat series – see tiger & bear), rendered in his signature style. Oftentimes, the true meaning of the paintings will more clearly reveal themselves when examining the titles as Chueh has a penchant for clever wordplay, […]

Interview: Adam Feibelman (by Andrew Schoultz) @ Guerrero Gallery

Our latest interview is with artist Adam Feibelman (aka Adam 5100), who hails from New Mexico & has been working in San Francisco for the past sixteen years. His most common medium and technique involves enamel paintings utilizing stencils & stitched paper stencil collages. Adam has a solo exhibition opening tomorrow night at San Francisco’s Guerrero Gallery, so AM enlisted his peer & friend Andrew Schoultz to find out a little more about Adam (including a commission for the new 49ers stadium). Take a look at […]

Upcoming / Streets: Nychos – “Silly Slicesophy” @ Mighty Tanaka (New York)

After recently gifting San Francisco with a new mural, Nychos has headed to the other coast for a showing in New York. Silly Slicesophy will open Friday night (August 9th) in Brooklyn at the Mighty Tanaka. As referred to in the title, the Austrian artist will be taking his knife to classic Disney characters (like Mickey above), and dissecting them in a style he often uses on the streets. Speaking of which, he just painted a new killer whale piece for his fans in NY (seen below). Photo […]

Francesco Igory Deiana Installation at RVCA (SF)

Francesco Igory Deiana (featured) recently finished an installation in the window of RVCA on Haight St in SF. Using wood and spray paint, he built a structure using his recognizable geo elements painted with bright neon red and orange color with dark cloudy stains over them. With a such distinctive setup, the San Francisco-based artist definitely managed to get the store window more noticeable on this famous, already very bright and colorful street. Due to the size of the installation and the time limitations, Deiana couldn’t work […]
