Baby Tattooville ’12: Art Jam

The Art Jam is the centerpiece of Baby Tattooville (see 2011, 2010, 2009, 2008). As in the previous five years, artists in attendance collaborate on the large piece from the start of the BT weekend on Friday until the Saturday night deadline. Earlier this month, the street collective TrustoCorp made their debut outside of the USA with a showing at Newcastle-based Outsiders gallery entitled International Bank of TrustoCorp. Releases: Snoopy Ceramic (KAWS Version)

Tomorrow at noon (Octeber 22nd Eastern time), KAWS will be releasing something for his fans out there to celebrate Halloween. Reprising his collaboration with the popular Snoopy (see 2011), the ceramic jar will be available for approximately $132 on Kawsone. Also, for all those KAWS heads out there, remember the street turned contemporary artist will be participating in another holiday next month in this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade with a 40-foot-long balloon of his companion character. Streets: JR – “I Am a Man” Mural / Unframed Project (Washington, D.C.)

French photographer and street activist JR, who was just featured in a video for the new MOCAtv channel, was also recently in Washington, D.C. working on a mural for his Unframed Project where he takes archived images and uses them in a different context. Openings: Camilla d’Errico & Brandi Milne – “The Candy Escape” @ Cotton Candy Machine

Last weekend, Camilla d’Errico (above) and Brandi Milne showcased new bodies of work at Brooklyn’s Cotton Candy Machine. Entitled The Candy Escape, this exhibition from both artists delighted New Yorkers and Comicon–goers alike. Camilla, who is back from a one year hiatus from fine art, took her unique mix of manga and illustrative techniques to a sold out return. While fresh off Baby Tattooville, the Los Angeles-based Milne displayed her somber and surreal paintings for Williamsburg art lovers to enjoy. Discuss this show here.
