Before leaving for Art HK a couple months ago, we stopped by for the opening of Streets of the World presented by Opera Gallery. This grouping included an all-star cast of street & urban artists exhibiting in the heart of New York’s Soho district. For our summary of walls this week, we have for you as our featured wall – REYES in Detroit. The motor city has become one of the hotspots for street activity recently as the tanking economy has ironically led to more abandoned buildings facilitating the rise of public art. Streets: All City Canvas (Mexico) Part II

After a first look at the All City Canvas in Mexico City, we have returned for some second helpings. Most of the artists have completed their pieces like El Mac, Saner, ROA, Vhils, Interesni Kazki, Escif and Herakut. From the photos, we can also see that Aryz has started work on his piece. This Saturday night (March 17) in Culver City, the Carmichael Gallery will be hosting a group exhibition entitled My Turn. The show is the first curatorial project from Los Angeles-based artist Bumblebee and features some of the young up-and-coming talent in the street and urban art movement including Hyuro, Interesni Kazki, Jaz, Klone, LinelineDot, Moneyless, Penny, Stinkfish, and Zeus. A new project coordinated by Gaia in his home city has kicked off recently with this mural from the young street artist. Open Walls Baltimore is a public art initiative in a neighborhood burdened by 150 vacant homes and hopes to bridge the gaps between the artist community that calls Station North home and the residents of Greenmount West.
