It’s time we do another summary of public art from around the globe with another Street World Roundup feature. Leading things off is an impressive new anamorphic mural from eL Seed that covers almost 50 buildings in the neighborhood of Manshiyat Nasr in Cairo, Egypt. Coming up on January 9th, James “Dalek” Marshall (interviewed) will be opening a new solo at the 529 West 20th Street location of Jonathan LeVine Gallery. Entitled The Redistribution Of Destruction, the fresh batch of work seems to continue his ever more complex abstractions and exploration of geometric patterns. Leading things off on this edition of our Streets: World Roundup is this new mural from Vhils (via Hookedblog) for the Phytology Project. The wall is situated on a side street just off Bethnal Green Road (the station end) in the Bethnal Green Nature Reserve and is part of a series of year-long artist commissions taking place in the reserve. Shortly after finishing new series of hand painted mono silkscreens (covered), the NYC-based How & Nosm flew to Portugal to take part in the ongoing Underdogs Project. As announced earlier this year, Raoul and Davide Perre are on a list of participants which also includes Interesni Kazki (covered), Cyrcle (covered), Maismenos, Alex Fakso, Martha Cooper, Vhils & Pixel Pancho. Projects: Library Street Collective Indoor Murals @ The Z (Detroit)

The Detroit-based gallery, Library Street Collective, recently started a big project in downtown Detroit. In collaboration with Detroit entrepreneur/real estate mogul Dan Gilbert, they are commissioning 23 artists from all over the world to paint murals in a newly constructed mixed-use development (referred to as “The Z”).
