AM just got back from the opening of Green Day’s “The Art of Rock” show at London’s StolenSpace gallery (previewed), the night before the band starts a run of sold out dates on the UK leg of theÂ 21st Century Breakdown Tour. Logan Hicks (interviewed) curated the group show, which consisted ofÂ 18 pieces of art inspired by the lyrics of the new album. Brendan Monroe returns to Los Angeles this weekend after recently moving to Sweden. The word is there will be a huge wall installation described as a portable mural and another installation featuring an array of hanging wood sculptures. On our recent trip to Denver to see Josh Keyes’ “Sprout” exhibition, AM met with Jason Thielke, who’s latest solo show entitled simply “New Works” opens this Friday, July 17th at the new downtown location of the David B. Smith Gallery. Shepard Fairey Helps Restore Italy with SMS Venice

It appears Swoon wasn’t the only artist in Venice recently.Â Shepard Fairey and his boys were also spotted spending a few weeks to “restore Venice.” The purpose of their visit wasn’t to vacation in the grand canals of Venice, but to create works for the SMS Venice Foundation. The works were donated by Shepard to promote the preservation of artistic and architectural heritage of the historic city of Venice. More after the jump.
