Showing: Edoardo Tresoldi – “Etherea” @ Coachella Festival

Over the weekend, the first set of visitors to the annual Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival were treated to a majestic new installation from Edoardo Tresoldi. Entitled Etherea, the site specific piece for the event’s Arts Section is a continuation of the Italian artist’s work with wire sculptures, although this one is certainly his biggest artwork to date. The three transparent sculptures are inspired by Neoclassical and Baroque architecture, measuring 36, 54, and 72 feet in height. Discuss Edoardo Tresoldi here.

Earlier this week, Christie’s in Hong Kong put on display a selling exhibition from Michael Lau entitled COLLECT THEM ALL! Featuring the Chinese artist’s figurative work, whether that be in a painting or whether that be in sculptural form, they all feature the signature aesthetic that has come to be associated with what many consider to be the pioneer in popularizing the art toy or vinyl figure. Nuart Aberdeen officially started on the 12th of April with a media reception held in front of large, sun basked mural-to-be by Ernest Zacharevic. Lovers of Snoopy and the Gang should rejoice with the impending launch of the Peanuts Global Artist Collective on April 16th. Openings: Tomoo Gokita – “Peekaboo” @ Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery

Last night, the Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery presented a comprehensive new show from Tomoo Gokita entitled Peekabo. Featuring various-sized pieces made since 2000 as well as 10 all new paintings, the exhibition provided a nice overview of the Japanese artist’s recent work including surreal paintings with oftentimes obscured faces, some family-style portraits, as well as a large-scale installation, which incorporates over 800 small drawings.
