Streets: Nick Walker – “Dopey” in Paris

Our friend Nick Walker (interviewed) is at it again, this time in France. He sent us some pics of the latest piece entitled “Dopey”. It’s his little twist on what he calls the “Dwarfs.” This is Nick’s most recent work on the streets of Paris since his Le Coran-can. Nice little tag there Nick, wonder what’s coming next? Update: The location is rue Oberkampf situated in the 11th district (Croisement et de St Maur dans le 11ème) next to La place verte. It’s created with support from the LeMur Association. Check […]

Openings: Zosen – “System Collapse” @ StolenSpace

StolenSpace’s latest exhibition opened last week and featured a solo exhibition by Zosen. “System Collapse” is the Barcelona based Argentinian artist’s first solo exhibit in the UK for which he presented a series of colorful character based canvases alongside some text based work, a video installation and some hand knitted pieces including a couple of these fun looking day-glo balaclavas. We’d love to see someone wearing one of these around town – could be essential winter-wear for the East London hipster brigade! AM’s favourite piece […]

LA Openings: Jean-Michel Basquiat – The Radiant Child

The film we heard first heard whispers of at Art Basel Miami last year is finally ready for its Los Angeles release tonight. Billed as the definitive documentary on Jean-Michel Basquiat, “The Radiant Child” (trailer) was filmed by close friend Tamra Davis before his untimely death in 1988 after which she stored the footage away for almost 20 years. There will be some special guests for some of the initial screenings, details after the jump…

Streets: Mac in Hawaii, Singapore, and Vietnam

It looks like Mac, whose work in Ireland we recently posted, has been doing a lot of traveling. In short succession, he hit up Hawaii, Singapore and Vietnam, all with some site-specific imagery done with his luminous and signature expanding spirals. More images after the jump…

Teaser: Kaws – “Wood Companion”

We’ve heard rumors of a wooden Companion figure from KAWS for a while now but haven’t seen any images… until now – from the recent Dos Sequis video! In these studio shots, the figure appears to be approximately 10 inches tall, but no word yet on general release details. We guess that KAWS fanatics, who have already been waiting for the Pinocchio & Jiminy Cricket figures to drop, will be adding this to their want list although this is sure to be limited and expensive. […]

Streets: Ludo at Atlantik Wall

Orchestrator of the “Nature’s Revenge” street movement, LUDO (interviewed), recently paid the Atlantik Wall a visit and sent over some pics of some pieces he worked on over there. Along with the unique locale, some of these insect pieces look pretty intricate. More after the jump…

Highlights: Recommended Openings (Aug 19 – 21)

Bit of a slow weekend as the dog days of August come to an end soon and the art world gears back up for things this coming September. By far, the big event leading the charge is BAST’s return to London at Lazarides. I just saw the preview and BAST has taken things up a notch with hand-painted acrylic works on canvas playing off his mixed-media collage style as well as some beautiful sculptural wall pieces. If in London this week, don’t miss it! More […]

Openings: Jonathan LeVine Gallery – “Annual Summer Invitational”

Last week, we stopped by Jonathan LeVine Gallery to hang out and catch their “Annual Summer Invitational” (previewed). The diverse group show consisted of artists who have never officially shown with the gallery and gave attendees of the gallery a different look at some different Low Brow and Street art action. We particularly enjoyed the Judith Supine, Andrew Hem (interviewed),  and EVOL pieces that were displayed. Catch it all after the jump.

VNA Issue 12 Launch & Live Painting with Mr Jago

VNA released issue number 12 last week at their launch night party at Pure Evil Gallery. The magazine has turned into an absolute must read publication over the last couple of years, with each issue being highly anticipated by us at AM as the guys seem to improve their already winning formula of the best of London’s street art photography combined with great interviews and written pieces with each and every release. Issue 12 features Belgian street artist Roa on the cover, and another reason […]
