This Saturday night (October 7th) in Los Angeles, Cordessa Fine Art will be presenting a new body of work from Kevin E. Taylor. Entitled Dead Evidence, the recently produced paintings are loosely adapted from Larry Sultan and Mike Mandel’s photo series Evidence. Continuing his exploration of intriguing imagery that brings surreal elements into museum or gallery settings, the San Francisco-based artist deals with themes such as how “humankind’s urgent march toward technological advancement accelerates, yet our mortality constantly grounds us.” Discuss Kevin E. Rules of Engagement, a joint show from Mark Jenkins (interviewed) and Rero, is currently on view at Wunderkammern and will run until October 28th. The exhibition at the gallery’s Milan venue features the American Jenkins bringing his signature and often ski-masked sculptural pieces in from the streets while still retaining the cleverness and grittiness in the indoor setting. Tonight (September 30th) at Thinkspace Gallery in Los Angeles, Andy Kehoe will be opening a solo show entitled PRISMATIC. The new mystical paintings continue the Pittsburgh-based artist’s expansion of his fantastical world filled with mysterious antlered creatures often set against the background of luminous and polychromatic skies. Kehoe’s technique of combining resin with oil paint gives the work a dimensionality that adds to the richness and texture of his compositions.
