POW! WOW! Long Beach ’18: Papercut Lounge

As part of this year’s POW! WOW! Long Beach (more coverage here) the Papercut Lounge worked with a group of artists to make zines available to festival attendees (which you can still purchase online here). The popup space not only served as a shop but also featured a cascading installation of books by Olga Lah and a large painting from Brendan Monroe as well as hosted the kickoff and closing party for the week-long, city-wide event. Releases: KAWS x Uniqlo x Sesame Street Collection

Tripling down on his collaboration with Uniqlo, KAWS will be releasing a new collection that re-imagines the world of Sesame Street. The new selection of adult and kids t-shirts from the Brooklyn-based artist is a follow-up to his Peanuts (covered) & Companion (covered) projects with the Japanese casual wear designer, manufacturer and retailer. Releases: Gary Baseman – “Ahwroo” Figure

Tonight (June 11th) at 10 PM EST, Gary Baseman (interviewed) will be releasing a figure through APPortfolio entitled Ahwroo. The sculptural edition (run of 300) of hand painted polystone measures  21 x 29 x 16.5cm and will cost $340 for those interested. Baseman states – “Ahwroo, my vicious creature, is so hungry for affection, he can draw blood and kill the object of his affection. Releases: Okuda – “Mickey’s Skull”

Spanish artist Okuda recently released a beautiful series of skulls featuring his distinctive patterned artwork. Produced in a run of 33, each Mickey’s Skull will come signed and numbered, measure 30x30x30cm, and feature a unique and vibrant color scheme. Releases: JR x Os Gemeos x Pharrell – “1983” Album

Currently through Social Animals, JR, Os Gemeos, and Pharrell have a followup release to their BOOMBOX sculptural edition from last year (covered). 1983 – The Album (12″ vinyl) features four exclusive tracks by Pharrell & OsG, as well as the artwork from the twins and a photo taken by JR of Pharrell in the packaging as well as in a print. There is a simple and deluxe edition of this collaborative effort, both of which along with the BOOMBOX can be purchased here.

Releases: YESNIK – “Hollow Heaven” & “King of Kings” Skate Decks

Entitled Hollow Heaven & King of Kings, two skatedecks were recently released by YESNIK featuring some of his signature imagery. Drawing from his experience living in an isolated mountain town in Central California, the Los Angeles-based artist has been painting totemic abstracted elements of the natural landscape for the last several years. Signed and numbered in an edition of 25, the two decks can be purchased as a set or separately for $200 & $125 respectively here.
