Streets: World Roundup (July 29 – Aug 4)

It’s time for another Streets Roundup again as we look at walls around the world. Leading things off is an epic collaboration in Los Angeles arranged by Branded Arts at the Gabba Gallery between Dabs Myla, Rime, Persue, Nychos, and Askew (photo by Birdman). Other worthy work comes from Jasper Wong – Montreal, Case x WOW123 – Russia, Nychos x Smithe – New York (source), Cranio x Mighty Mo – London (source), Waone (Interesni Kazki) – Moscow, Dot Dot Dot – Norway (source), Fintan Magee – […]

Streets: March 4 – March 10

After covering a flurry of street murals for the POW WOW event in Hawaii, it’s time for a return to the Streets World Roundup for a look around the globe. Our featured piece was painted in Fort De France, Martinique by Nuxuno Xän (source – photo by Rosali Rodrigues). Nice placement, no? Other worthy murals you might want to check out come from Herakut – Nepal, Sam3 – Chile, Ericailcane – Mexico (source), Askew – New Zealand (source), David de la Mano – Uruguay (source), […]

POW WOW ’13: Streets Summary

After another enjoyable retreat in Hawaii for AM, it’s time to wrap up another successful POW WOW (see all our coverage here). Here are some of the other completed murals we saw while we were in town for the event that we haven’t focused on yet, including photos of walls that were in progress the last time we shared pics with you. Artists include ROID and Madsteez (seen above), as well as Apex, Askew, Bam, Ekundayo, Estria, Hannah Stouffer, Ian Kuali’i, Katch, Kamea Hadar, Meggs, […]

POW WOW ’13 (Part II)

After taking you through the first set of public murals for POW WOW 2013, here is now a look work from another group of artists. This time around, we have in-progress photos from Meggs x Phibs (above), Yoskay Yamamoto x Andrea Wan x Jeff Hamada, Hannah Stouffer x Kamea Hadar, Askew x Dabs Myla x Roid, Solomon Enos, DAL, and Faith47. One of the best aspects of the event is the collaborative spirit and camaraderie that develops over the week. We’ll be bringing you a […]

Streets: Askew One (New Zealand)

Dubbed the Askew Tankfarm Project, this newest endeavor from New Zealand’s best is located in Auckland near the wharf in the Wynyard Quarter. By painting over a cluster of silos, a nod to the area’s industrial past, Askew has creating a stunning new public art attraction. The lettering recounting the entire poem Auckland by C.K. Stead is a nice touch. Check out more of the photos below…

Streets: World Roundup (June 4 – June 10)

Our Streets: World Roundup feature returns this week with a summary of murals you may have missed out on. Our highlighted piece this time is this monster collaboration from REVOK and RIME of MSK fame for the Detroit Beautification Project. It almost makes AM want to take a trip to the much maligned Motor City to see all the walls for themselves, proof that the project is working. Other notable murals include work from: Jaz – France (source), Graphic Surgery (Poland), Remi/Rough (Melbourne), Dal East […]

Detroit Beautification Project

A project that was first hinted at here appears to have come to fruition in the Motor City. We have already shared works from Sever and Reyes for the Detroit Beautification Project, but now we have a closer look at the multitude of artists (many of them MSK affiliated) and the murals they painted centered mostly in Hamtramck. Selected photos include more from Reyes, Revok (seen above), 123Klan, Askew, Dabs Myla, Tristan Eaton, RISK, and Flying Fortress. For those interested, also check out a video […]

Streets: World Roundup (May 7 – May 13)

For our summary of walls this week, we have for you as our featured wall – REYES in Detroit. The motor city has become one of the hotspots for street activity recently as the tanking economy has ironically led to more abandoned buildings facilitating the rise of public art. Also, the Detroit Beautification Project (first mentioned here) has been bringing in artists from all over to get up around town. We’ll have a summary on the project soon (also see Sever’s piece) but for now […]

Streets: World Roundup Oct 10 – 16

Because the scope of coverage here on AM of street murals & graffiti is steadily expanding, we will be doing a weekly roundup of new work (or work that has not been featured in their own individual articles yet) from around the world. Some of these would have been previously mentioned in our weekly Overtime articles, but since this particular sort of news is so image-based, we will be isolating them out into a separate series for your enjoyment. For our first installment, we focus […]
